Codex observers previously accepted a private registry record as task ownership. They now require matching live tmux session metadata, one live pane, and current same-user process ancestry with stable start identities, then reread the proof to reject races. The task-generation format is unchanged.
Provider probe CLI cancellation now records TERM/HUP/INT and raises at safe ownership checkpoints, so a signal during process creation cannot orphan the child. Repeated cancellation does not interrupt process-group cleanup, descriptor closure, or staged-executable cleanup; prior handlers are restored.
Validation: all 280 local tests pass, including real tmux ownership/rejection checks and six subprocess cancellation regressions. Evidence checks retain 24 unknown capability cells and four unqualified replay rows. Provider pins are unchanged. Independent Gemini 3.1 Pro review found no blockers; macOS/Linux CI is required before merge.
