With this change, IE9 can use the canvas element properly. It also works for IE6-8 using the new _makeCanvas function.
Now that IE9 can actually use canvas elements...

Just what the title says, you might not want the 2nd commit, but the first one should be solid... I used the method flot does to detect excanvas vs canvas support.
