It uses a two-pass parser so memory overhead stays low even on large dumps. Available via GitHub releases or jbang.

### heap-dump-tool

Similar to hprof-redact, [heap-dump-tool](https://github.com/paypal/heap-dump-tool) is another tool that can remove sensitive string data from heap dumps while preserving the object graph and instance sizes.

```bash
wget -O heap-dump-tool.jar https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/paypal/heap-dump-tool/1.3.4/heap-dump-tool-1.3.4-all.jar
java -jar heap-dump-tool.jar sanitize source.hprof output.hprof
```

Key features:

- **Full sanitisation**: Replaces byte/char array contents with null bytes (configurable replacement text)
- **Selective redaction**: Exclude specific string fields from sanitisation via `-e` (e.g. `-e "java.lang.Thread#name"`)
- **Scope control**: Optionally sanitise all primitive arrays and non-array primitive fields (`--sanitize-byte-char-arrays-only=false`)

### hprof-slurp

[hprof-slurp](https://github.com/agourlay/hprof-slurp) is a Rust-based analyser that gives you a quick summary of instance counts per class straight from the CLI — useful when you want a first-pass look at what's in a dump without firing up MAT.
