This is a continuation of #9 , with new builds still being added on from time to time as well as other revisional notes, and any new sound drivers to add build sorting notes for.

The following vgmtrans issues are noted, which adds them to my priority list for getting the build sorting notes up:

#18 adds the following sound drivers to the list, meaning that build sorting notes will be produced for these:

  • Climax (Images Software)
  • Martin Walker
  • System Vision

aabbccddeeff123456's fork of vgmtrans adds the following sound drivers to the list, meaning that build sorting notes will be produced for these...

  • Accolade
  • Game Freak
  • Gremlin
  • Insomnya (This is a sound driver from the BBS scene)
  • KaZe
  • N-SPC/Advance Communication
  • N-SPC/Argonaut (listed under Anthrox)
  • Nintendo (R&D 1)/SMASH? (This refers to Famicom Tantei Club Part II: this may be relevant to a series of earlier builds where at least one of them have a sound programmer credit for Kazuya Nakatani)
  • Rainbow Arts
  • Realtime Associates/David Warhol
  • Titus (has a branch that was used in Elitendo trainers)
  • Kadokawa is an alias for Sting AKA Mitsuhiko Tanaka, which is already covered.
  • Sensibile is an alias for Martin Walker, which is covered under Add Sculptured Software disasssemblies #18.

…ke Software

After variable ARAM map tracing, I have determined that this build is not really
relevant to Make Software's N-SPC-esque builds later on, and instead I traced it
to Hudson's sound driver. There are plenty of programmatic differences going on,
but the variable ARAM map tracing told me that there were some memory locations
that carried over to the next earliest build Shin Momotarou Densetsu.
Extracted from a sound driver command or two. These commands would later output
their versioning info to the SNES straight off of the version text.
Same Game Koma Editor 4 has a unique build.
A lot of these are from BS-X games.

The build was initially incorrectly marked as identical to the final US/EU
version of ActRaiser. This has been corrected.

Build matched the Title Screen build of Kick Off 3 and the US beta of
Lawnmower Man.

Build dates were taken from ROM text, which are shown on the CMS screens.
The 5/24/1994 beta refers to a ROM called PORKY2.
I mixed up my betas: the PORKY2 one is identical to the later beta. Instead, the
one from 3/16/1994, ROM name PORKY, is the one that had the non-unique build.

There is a bonus section for an initialization build that is used in later
versions.

NOTE: Spawn (Psygnosis)'s build is known due to having been retrieved from David
Lowe's disk archives that were released. The game is otherwise not extant, and
is not relevant to the version that was released.

Super Scope Test from the SNES Burn-In Test Cartridge as well as Nintendo
Power Menu Program have been moved to N-SPC/Hirokazu Tanaka after tracing
sound driver commands as well as the SFX format, which appears to be a
predecessor to the other builds. Joining them is Nintendo Campus Challenge
1992 and Nintendo PowerFest '94, which have been directly traced to Mario
Paint via a code fragment that was left over in Mario Paint.
BS Zelda no Densetsu - Inishie no Sekiban is a unique build.

Also added Gdleen as an ancestor to both branches with its own sorting note.

I will note that C-lab likely branched off Populous rather than Gdleen.
Nevertheless, they share an ancestor.

Only refers to the Japanese version of Ultraman. It doesn't appear to have a
link to the other Human builds, hence why it's in its own place.

Dave Andrews from VGMPF stated that this variant did not belong to Sakata
SAS. After looking at the credits for all of the games (and yes, they all
have credits), I have renamed the variant accordingly to Epoch, citing an
Epoch Sound Team credit for Alice no Paint Adventure and Donald Duck no
Mahou no Boushi. Plus, every single game also credits Takashi Kutsukake
under a sound role, which helps links things together.

Note that Lord Monarch is not programmatically related to this variant,
which does credit Takashi Kutsukake as a sound coordinator... it also has
someone else credited under Sound.

NOTE: The 6/15 prototype of Relief Pitcher refers to an incomplete prototype
found by the Video Game History Foundation off of a ROM chip marked "RP 6/15
0". The sound driver build was among the surviving data.

NOTE: American Gladiators and Humans come pretty close to a source variant
build given how bare bones they are, and can be used for tracing variable
ARAM maps for some NSPC variants, given that they appear to be the source
for some of them. Motivetime is noted separate, but is a pretty close match
to this build.

NOTE: Top Gear/Top Racer is the only one to have any substantial SFX
programming in it. The rest of these don't really have any.

NOTE: An opcode comparison had to be done due to an inconsistency with the
pointer methodology caused by variable ARAM map being in between code and
also being of an inconsistent size.

Accidentally duplicated my effort on N-SPC/Hudson without realizing this one
existed, so this now has a unique entry, as Make Software's involvement is not
known.

Note that there is a separate Make Software sound driver in the disassembly
listings. That is a N-SPC-esque format that is not a programmatic match,
though there are some differences to note, but it is separate from this one,
as the SFX programming is different.

These notes were previously missing whereas they should have been there. The
signature notes are updated accordingly. Additionally, an error was corrected on
the starting location on three of the builds.

Thanks to ASMagician Maks for notifying me of this! This is now the oldest known
build in the SNES's entire history, as there is a snippet of code that does not
return in all later builds.
