Taskito v1.1.0 - Initial Public Release

A tiny, distraction-free focus timer for macOS that lives in your Mac's menu bar.

What is Taskito?

Taskito is a dead-simple countdown timer designed to help you focus and timebox your work. No forced Pomodoro workflows, no ads, no tracking—just a timer when you need it.

Features

Core Functionality

  • ⏱️ Simple countdown timer with minutes and seconds
  • 📍 Lives in your Mac's menu bar. No Dock icon, no distractions
  • ⚡ Fast and lightweight with zero setup required
  • 🎯 Preset timers—save up to 5 frequently-used durations

Keyboard-First Design

  • ⌨️ Full keyboard support for power users
  • 🌐 Global keyboard shortcut to open Taskito from anywhere (customizable)
  • 🔢 Quick access to presets with ⌘1-⌘5
  • ⏯️ Space to play/pause, ⌘R to restart, ⌃C to cancel

Privacy & Simplicity

  • 🔒 All data stays on your Mac—no cloud, no analytics, no tracking
  • 🎨 Clean, minimal interface that stays out of your way
  • 🔕 Optional sound notification when timer completes
  • 🚀 Launch on startup option

System Requirements

  • macOS 14.2 or later
  • Apple Silicon or Intel Mac

Installation

Important: Taskito is unsigned. After downloading:

  1. Download the DMG from this release
  2. Mount the DMG and drag Taskito to Applications
  3. Remove quarantine flag by running in Terminal:
xattr -cr /Applications/Taskito.app
  1. Launch normally from Applications.

The "damaged and can't be opened" error just means macOS is blocking unsigned apps. The app isn't actually damaged.
