This is an unofficial, narrowly scoped maintenance fork of
Asuswrt-Merlin for the EOL
RT-AC68U V1-V3 platform. It keeps Merlin's 386.14_2 base and backports
reviewable security fixes without attempting a broad component or feature
upgrade.
The source-release convention is 386.14_2-leoN; matching firmware artifacts
are named RT-AC68U_386.14_2-leoN.trx. Developer builds use Merlin's
-g<commit> suffix; clean release builds use
CLEAN_BUILD=1 RELEASE_SUFFIX=leoN ./build-ac68u.sh.
See SECURITY-BACKPORTS.md for the
patch provenance, limitations, reproducible build procedure, checksums, and
hardware-validation status.
This firmware is not an official ASUS or Asuswrt-Merlin release. Keep a stock ASUS recovery image available and do not install it on any model outside the documented hardware scope.
Support is available via the forums at SNBForums.
Asuswrt-Merlin is an enhanced version of Asuswrt, the firmware used by Asus's modern routers.
The goal of this project is to fix issues and bring some minor functionality adjustments to the
original Asus firmware. While some features do get added, this is not the main focus of this project.
It is not meant to replace existing projects such as Tomato or DD-WRT, but rather to offer an alternative
for people who prefer the original firmware featureset.
This is the new development branch, originally based on Asus's 3.0.0.4.382_xxxx firmware release. Development of the 380.xx legacy branch has been dropped.
