brand: generate a Roku home-screen poster for repos that ship a Roku channel - #281
The brasenia Roku channel shows Roku's generic placeholder on the home screen because its manifest names no channel poster. The poster is a brand surface, so this adds it to the brand generator instead of drawing it by hand in brasenia. It uses the same genus marks, palette and vendored Space Grotesk as the README banners and social cards.
What changed
brand/fleet.json: a new optional per-repo key, roku, documented in _comment. brasenia sets it. No other repo ships a Roku channel.
brand/generate.py:roku_poster_html() emits generated/<repo>/roku-poster.html for repos with "roku": true. It shows the genus chip over the repo name on the Tidewater hero gradient, with faint gold contours and the gold rule. It is one SVG on Roku's 540×405 poster grid, scaled to the window, so both manifest sizes come from one page. The home screen shows the tile at thumbnail size, so it carries only the mark and the name.
brand/render.sh: a shoot helper now drives Chrome for the social card and for the posters. roku-poster.html is rasterized to roku-poster-fhd.png (540×405) and roku-poster-hd.png (290×218), the mm_icon_focus_fhd / mm_icon_focus_hd sizes in Roku's manifest docs. SD is not produced because brasenia declares ui_resolutions=fhd. The helper deletes the target before shooting, so the "Chrome wrote nothing" guard can't be satisfied by a stale file from an earlier run.
ci/validate.py: the brand check also regenerates roku-poster.html for repos with the key and diffs it. A hand-edit and a deleted page were each confirmed to fail the check before restoring. It also fails when poster files are left in a repo's output after roku is removed, because generate.py never deletes. The PNGs are skipped, like og.png.
Docs:brand/README.md lists the poster under "What each repo gets" and in the regenerate notes. CLAUDE.md's branding bullet mentions it.
Running generate.py across the whole fleet changes nothing except the new brasenia page. Re-rendering brasenia's og.png is byte-identical.
A note on fill="none"
Every genus mark except the lentago blossom sets fill="none" on its root <svg>, and mark_inner() strips that wrapper. Without it, the leaves and arcs fill black. The poster's chip group restores fill="none" so the tile matches the canonical mark. The existing banners and social cards have the same defect, which is visible in brasenia's current og.png. Fixing it changes every committed banner and so needs a fleet-wide re-propagation, so it is tracked separately in #282 rather than folded in here.
Follow-up
brasenia#106 copies the two PNGs into roku-app/images/ and names them in the channel manifest.

New Features
Branding generation now creates home-screen posters for repositories configured with Roku channels.
Roku posters are rendered in FHD and HD sizes, alongside existing social-preview images.
Documentation
Updated branding guidance to describe Roku poster generation, available image sizes, and where the assets apply.
The branding workflow now generates a Roku poster page for configured repositories, renders FHD and HD poster PNGs, and checks the generated page in CI. The brasenia fleet entry enables poster generation.
Changes: Roku poster generation

Summary
Poster configuration and generation brand/fleet.json, brand/generate.py, CLAUDE.md, brand/README.md
The brasenia configuration enables Roku poster generation. The generator writes roku-poster.html for repositories with roku enabled. The documentation describes the output.
The renderer produces FHD (540×405) and HD (290×218) poster PNGs when roku-poster.html exists. The documentation describes rendering and copying the posters.
Disabling Roku can leave an outdated poster, and the remaining manifest work is not explicit. These bounded issues can be addressed or accepted before merging.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#280] All coding requirements appear implemented, based on the PR description and change summary. No repository inspection tool was available, so this rests on those sources. (1) brand/fleet.json gains an optional roku key, set for brasenia. (2) brand/generate.pyroku_poster_html() emits generated/<repo>/roku-poster.html when roku is true. The page is one SVG on the 540×405 grid with the genus chip, repo name, and Tidewater gradient. (3) brand/render.shshoot produces roku-poster-fhd.png (540×405) and roku-poster-hd.png (290×218). No SD output is produced. (4) ci/validate.py regenerates and diffs roku-poster.html for keyed repos, and skips PNGs as it does for og.png. The author reports that a hand-edit fails the check. (5) brand/README.md lists the poster under "What each repo gets". The summary does not explicitly show Space Grotesk inlined in the SVG. The description says the poster reuses the banner font path, so this is accepted as implemented but not independently confirmed.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
[#280] Changes map to the issue scope. generate.py, fleet.json, validate.py, and render.sh implement the key, page, PNG output, and CI check. render.sh refactoring into shoot supports the poster Chrome calls and is also used for og.png. The author reports og.png stays byte-identical. The fill="none" restoration on the chip group keeps the poster mark faithful and is tied to the poster itself. The known fill="none" defect in existing banners is explicitly not changed here and is tracked separately. CLAUDE.md and brand/README.md edits document the new artifact. The fleet.json comment text on text-only badges is not explained in the description and is not linked to #280, but it is documentation only and does not change behavior. The render.sh message about copying posters is a follow-up note, not a code change to another repo.

Nothing blocking. The Terraform, fleet-ops and workflow files are untouched, the generated HTML matches its source change, and the PNG dimensions match the manifest sizes (540×405 and 290×218). I could not fetch issue #280 (its title) in this environment, so the title-alignment check is unverified.
minor: brand/generated/brasenia/roku-poster-fhd.png and roku-poster-hd.png (added binaries) have no CI guard. ci/validate.py:285 skips them, so a later edit to generate.py or fleet.json can leave the committed PNGs stale and CI stays green. The PNGs are copied verbatim into brasenia, which is the same reason the HTML is checked, so the drift risk applies to them too. The brand/README.md note to re-run render.sh is the only control.
minor: ci/validate.py:335 only iterates repos where roku is truthy, and no check flags orphaned output. Removing "roku": true later leaves roku-poster.html and both PNGs in brand/generated/<repo>/, and nothing reports them as stale.
minor: brand/README.md:17-56 gains a substantive feature description (the poster outputs, the render.sh behaviour, the manifest mapping). Under the README disclosure convention, the only "Generated with Claude" line is the PR-body footer, not a disclosure at the top of the changed section. This is a judgement call, since brand/README.md is a docs file rather than the root README.
PNGs have no CI guard (minor): declined. This is the same trade-off og.png already makes. Proving a PNG is current means rasterizing it, CI carries no browser, and brand/README.md documents the re-render rule. A fingerprint scheme (for example, render.sh recording a hash of the source page next to each PNG) would apply equally to og.png, so it belongs in its own issue if it's wanted. It is not specific to the poster.
Orphaned output when roku is removed (minor): fixed in e6322f4. The brand check now fails if roku-poster.html or either poster PNG is present for a repo without "roku": true (generate.py never deletes). I confirmed it fails by dropping brasenia's key with the files still in place, then restored the key.
Disclosure at the top of brand/README.md (minor): declined. This repo discloses Claude co-authorship in the canonical footer of its root README.md, per docs/voice.md. brand/README.md is a component reference that has never carried its own disclosure, and the generator, render and CI sections already in it were written the same way. A per-section disclosure for one table row would break that pattern. The commits carry the Co-Authored-By trailer.
The follow-up commit only answers these findings, so no re-review is needed.
ci/validate.py checks roku-poster.html but skips PNGs. Render the 540×405 and 290×218 outputs and inspect them for clipping and font fallback before merge.

When a previously enabled repository loses roku, brand/generate.py rewrites the common files but leaves roku-poster.html. brand/render.sh then sees that stale file and continues to produce Roku PNGs, while ci/validate.py no longer checks the HTML.

State that the manifest still needs updating.
Brasenia’s manifest does not yet name either poster, so copying the PNGs alone leaves the placeholder. State that the follow-up must add both manifest keys, and link to the manifest or follow-up PR. (github.com)

Late CodeRabbit review (of the first commit), triaged after the merge:
Remove the Roku poster when roku is disabled (brand/generate.py, minor): already covered by e6322f4, no further change. The same gap was raised in the Haiku review. The brand check in ci/validate.py now fails when roku-poster.html or either PNG is left in a repo's output without "roku": true, and it names the files to delete. That was confirmed against a dropped key. Deletion stays explicit because generate.py never deletes output, including for a repo removed from fleet.json. The suggested unlink would also have removed only the HTML and left both PNGs.
State that brasenia's manifest still needs updating (brand/README.md, minor): obsolete. brasenia#107 merged right after this PR. It names both posters (mm_icon_focus_fhd, mm_icon_focus_hd) in roku-app/manifest, so the README row describes the current state.

Closes #280
The brasenia Roku channel shows Roku's generic placeholder on the home screen because its manifest names no channel poster. The poster is a brand surface, so this adds it to the brand generator instead of drawing it by hand in brasenia. It uses the same genus marks, palette and vendored Space Grotesk as the README banners and social cards.
What changed
