Summary

  • persist the ID of a replacement Neutron port when a previously recorded port is missing
  • prevent repeated reconciles from creating a new detached port for the same server

Root cause

EnsurePorts reused the stale status entry after EnsurePort created a replacement. The next reconcile looked up the stale ID again and created another port.

Validation

  • go test ./pkg/cloud/services/networking -count=1
  • make verify

Regression coverage

The new unit test simulates a missing recorded port, verifies the replacement ID is persisted, then verifies the next reconcile reuses that port without a second create.

Hi @jarred-roberts-rum. Thanks for your PR.

I'm waiting for a kubernetes-sigs member to verify that this patch is reasonable to test. If it is, they should reply with /ok-to-test on its own line. Until that is done, I will not automatically test new commits in this PR, but the usual testing commands by org members will still work.

Regular contributors should join the org to skip this step.

Once the patch is verified, the new status will be reflected by the ok-to-test label.

I understand the commands that are listed here.
