Deterministic structural pre-dimensioning for construction. Eurocode timber and steel design under the German National Annex, with a full calculation trace, sourced rule packs and SVG / PDF / DXF output. A pre-dimensioning tool, not a certified structural proof.
The Bauwesen-Engine sizes structural members from a plain description of span, loads and material, and returns a fully traceable result in seconds. The work that normally takes an engineer a spreadsheet and an afternoon becomes instant, auditable and repeatable.
Single span systems (Einfeldträger) are fully operational:
- Materials: timber C24 and GL24h (EC5), steel S235 and S355 (EC3) with 44 rolled profiles (IPE, HEA, HEB)
- Actions and combinations: permanent and point loads, combinatorics per EC0
- Limit states: ULS (bending, shear) and SLS (deflection), all under the German National Annex
- Output: SVG system and internal force diagrams with an efficiency gauge, a PDF pre-dimensioning report with the full trace, and DXF export
A building level model (vertical load path, foundations, drainage layout) is in active development.
Deterministic, not generative. There are no hard-coded Eurocode constants in the calculation path. Every value comes from versioned rule packs, each backed by at least two sources. The engine is auditable line by line: same input, same output, every time.
Disclaimer first. The output is a pre-dimensioning, not a prüffähiger Nachweis. The responsibility of the Tragwerksplaner and Prüfingenieur under the Landesbauordnung stays exactly where it is. Engineer sign-off is a built-in gate, not an afterthought. This mirrors the safety philosophy of my other product, UseEasy COS: automate the grind, keep the human in control of what matters.
Traceable by design. Every result ships with a "Why?" trace that shows which rule fired, which value was used and where it came from.

- 1,000+ automated tests passing across engine, rendering and API (74 test files)
- Zero unsourced values in the calculation path, every rule references at least two sources
- Byte-identity deployment gate: each release is checked against a golden snapshot, so a change can never silently alter a result
- Live on AWS Lambda (Python 3.12, FastAPI), with SVG, PDF and DXF generated server side (native DXF via ezdxf, no Excel to PDF detours)
A live loop, not a form. There is no "calculate" button: span, load and profile update the result and the efficiency gauge as you type (debounced). A "Why?" drawer opens the full trace with sources. The interface is built for one job, give an engineer a fast and honest first cut, then get out of the way.
The first end to end version (engine, API, output and a deployed AWS endpoint) was built in about six days of focused work. It has grown from there into the multi-material, multi-output engine documented above, still solo.

This repository contains sanitized documentation and representative samples. The full rule packs, calculation kernel and drawing compositor are private. The engine is a planning and coordination tool, an external structural review is required before any use in a real project.
