I'm Kelly Chen, a software engineer who likes turning messy ideas, workflows, and access gaps into organized systems people can actually use.
I currently work at Bloomberg - Fixed Income Private Securities in New York. Outside of work, I build product experiments across fintech, AI-assisted workflows, early-career opportunity systems, and community access.
🛠️ I am currently building and testing:
- BeamCash - accountless QR checkout for sellers, vendors, performers, nonprofits, and donation groups.
- WebPilot - an AI website operations platform for making recommendations reviewable, evidence-backed, and implementation-ready.
- WriteGuard - a TypeScript reliability layer for AI-agent workflows that perform consequential external writes.
- ApplyFirst - an early-access opportunity system for students tracking programs, fellowships, scholarships, and career-launch resources.
- Tandem - a validation-first NYC dating experiment around complementary ambition and future direction.
- SkanPay - QR payment and redemption concepts for local commerce.
🎤 I also speak and write about:
- Career leverage for emerging engineers.
- Conference strategy, opportunity access, and student resource systems.
- Building practical MVPs that turn scattered friction into testable products.
- Women-in-tech community building and early-career support.
✨ Community has shaped a lot of my work. I have been involved with Rewriting the Code, Girls Who Code, CodePath, Major League Hacking, AnitaB.org, NCWIT, and other technical communities.
🚀 Follow along if you care about technical systems, fintech ideas, AI workflow tooling, student opportunity access, or building useful things from real-life friction.
