Opening the content picker closes the menu bar window

When the user selects content via the native macOS content picker, the menu bar application is closed. It can be confusing because it's not clear whether the recording was already started after choosing the content. If possible, I would like to keep the menu bar window open after content was selected.

It seems to be rather difficult to re-open the menu bar application after it loses focus. So instead I was thinking of showing a small overlay that contains the preview and two buttons to start or cancel. If the user wants to change any of the settings after content selection, they could still cancel and adjust through the menu bar settings.
