how to use stationxml-seed-converter?

Hi,

I am new to Java and new to GItHub.
To convert xml station file to datalessSEED I downloaded stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.tar.gz from here.

In the User’s Guide to the IRIS stationxml-seed-converter, I found an example
% java -jar PATH/TO/stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar --input /PATH/TO/StnXML_file.xml --output /PATH/TO/StnXML_file.dataless

but in the expanded files I cannot find a file named stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar.

Could you tell me how to run the converter?
After untar the *.tar.gz file I obtain a directory of long directory name stationxml-seed-converter-stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.
I cannot find stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar in the directory.

I am using MacOS 10.14.6

Thank you for uploading the stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar file.
I downloaded stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar
After I upgraded my JDK to version 1.8
% java -jar stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar -h
worked!

I ran it as a converter from xml to seed. Then I ran evalresp version 5.0.1 using the seed response file.
evalresp complains an error message and stops.

I do not know that a problem in xml-to-seed converter or in evalresp.

I downloaded dataless SEED from IRIS DMC and untared the dataless SEED file to extract an xml file.
xml file name is IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.xml.

% java -jar $PATH_TO/stationxml-seed-converter-2.1.0.jar --input IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.xml --output IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.resp

Then I run evalresp to convert from xml file to resp file.

% evalresp MAJO LDO 2022 015 0.01 1.0 -f IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.resp

I obtain a following error message.

Wed Aug 10 21:04:43 2022 [ERROR] unrecognised prefix: '000001V 010006602.412~~2022,222,11:48:51.0000IRIS DMCConverted from XML~0110021001MAJO 000003

I still do not know that a problem is in xml-to-seed converter or in evalresp.

I would like to obtain RESP files that can be used in the SAC transfer command.

( I treid to attach IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.xml itself in this message but inclusion of IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.xml always fails.)

@WatadaShingo the way to generate a resp file from a stationxml is to:

1. convert the stationxml to a dataless seed file, load the dataless seed file using the stationxml converter
2. Load the dataless file into PDCC https://ds.iris.edu/ds/nodes/dmc/software/downloads/pdcc/
3. Output Resp from PDCC for the desired channels.

If you want to generate a FAP table (data for Bode plots) using can run evalresp on the stationxml directly. An example command is below. Evalresp breaks on SOH channels which is part of the reason that the command above does not work. To fix this, query for a specific channel type in the station services:

Run evalresp on the channels:

evalresp MAJO BHE 1991 015 0.01 100.0 100 -x -f IU.MAJO.BHE.xml

FAP information is returned.

Another option for converting from StationXML to RESP is the xml2resp tool included in the evalresp distribution:

This is a C program distributed as source code, so if you can compile C programs on your platform this should work for you.

Note that there is one known limitation of this converter when the input contains a response list (FAP), which is not very common. Issue describing this issue: EarthScope/evalresp#81

Lastly, if your metadata are uploaded to the Earthscope metadata repository, they can be queried, and returned in the Resp format using the Earthscope Resp web service.

Note that the current version of the sac program (102.0) can directly use a StationXML file. It is not necessary to have a RESP file.

Hhhh, I now see this:

% evalresp MAJO LDO 2022 015 0.01 1.0 -f IRISDMC-MAJO.IU.resp

Looking at the response information for that channel and time, it is a response described as a polynomial. The evalresp program, and also the sac program which uses evalresp, will not be able to use that non-linear response in a general way. It does not matter if it is in StationXML or RESP.

There are no general programs I'm aware of to apply this polynomial in order to convert the data to other units without ome manual steps in between. EarthScope does have a web service that can apply this conversion using the polynomial:
