Clinical AI evaluation and safety in healthcare. My work systematically benchmarks large language models and multimodal foundation models across dermatology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, and computational pathology, with emphasis on failure modes that carry direct patient safety implications.
Active research threads:
- Chatbot sycophancy — simulated harness evaluating people-pleasing behavior in patient-facing AI systems
- Prompt framing bias — quantifying how prompt framing (concerned / neutral / unconcerned) distorts LLM diagnostic accuracy in dermoscopy
- Text-dominant reasoning in multimodal models — documenting the failure of large multimodal models to integrate image evidence when text context is available
- Foundation model benchmarking — zero-shot, few-shot, fine-tuning, and linear probing comparisons across general-purpose and domain-specific models for melanoma classification and diabetic retinopathy grading
