💡 What:

  1. Replaced the chained .filter().reduce() and .filter().length array methods used for calculating totalSyllables and lyricLineCount in SongEditor.tsx with a single, imperative loop inside a useMemo hook.
  2. Memoized PromptLibraryDialog using React.memo to prevent it from re-rendering alongside its parent component.
  3. Stabilized empty function props passed to PromptLibraryDialog by extracting () => {} into a static NO_OP module-level constant.

🎯 Why:
SongEditor rerenders frequently due to its reliance on audio timeupdate events. Deriving state linearly on the hot path creates constant unnecessary object allocations and redundant iterations. Furthermore, passing inline functions to memoized children defeats memoization, causing PromptLibraryDialog to re-render uselessly several times per second.

📊 Impact:

  • Eliminates unnecessary object/array allocations during audio playback.
  • Reduces O(N) iterations across song.lyrics by consolidating them into a single pass.
  • Stops PromptLibraryDialog from re-rendering on every audio timeupdate.

🔬 Measurement:
Start application, play an audio file within the SongEditor, and use React Developer Tools Profiler to observe that PromptLibraryDialog no longer re-renders during playback, and the render time of SongEditor is reduced due to the memoization.
