I'm Igor (pronounced Ee-gor), a curiosity-driven researcher passionate about the intersection of science and software development. Over the past 10 years, I've worked in experimental research, developed scientific software, and taught at schools and universities.
βLife is like a backflip. If you think too much, you land on your back.β
At the Fyodor Kondrashov lab, I investigate how evolution discovers functional protein molecules. My daily work relies heavily on exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling. I support experimental design and help analyze high-throughput biological assays.
I believe research code should be reproducible, maintainable, and designed to last. Unfortunately, scientists are rarely taught how to write software, even though modern research depends on it. My goal is to help bridge that gap by introducing software development principles in academia through Good Enough Computing in Science.
