Example: EMS setup

This example demonstrates how to setup up a Strandnet Energy Management System.

  1. Create asset:

    • Go to the Assets page and click the + icon
    • Select the Strandnet Energy Optimisation Asset and name it (EMS)
    • Click ADD to create the asset

  2. Generate power limit profiles:

    • Fill in the Power limit maximum profile (kW) field (1000)
    • Click the Generate power limit maximum profile manual input checkbox
    • Fill in the Power limit minimum profile (kW) field (-1000)
    • Click the Generate power limit minimum profile manual input checkbox

This will create a power limit profile with 15-minute steps for each day of the week in the Power limit maximum profile manual input field. You can manually change values for each interval and click the submit arrow when you are done. You can also copy the text and save it as a .csv file. This CSV file you can open with a spreadsheet program like google sheets. In your spreadsheet you can make adjustments and export the new power profile again as a CSV file. Next, you can open this CSV file in a text editor and copy the text to the Power limit maximum profile manual input and submit the changes by clicking the submit arrow. You can do the same for the Power limit minimum profile manual input. You can also choose to only set a maximum or minimum power limit profile, it is not required to have both for the optimisation routine.

  1. Display power limit profiles:
    • Go to the Insights page and click the + icon
    • Create a Line Chart and name it (Power limit profiles)
    • Connect the Power limit maximum profile manual and Power limit maximum profile manual attributes
    • Set the Display Default timeframe to This day
    • Click SAVE and then VIEW to exit the MODIFY mode

Now you have a line chart with your power limit profiles. You can change the time range to see your power limit profile for different days or the whole week.

  1. Setup optimisation method:
    • Connect your main meter power readout to the Power net (kW) attribute
    • Select the Optimisation method Strandnet alpha from the dropdown menu
    • Create a Strandnet electricity battery asset and name it (Batterij GEMS)

Note: If problems occur during power limit profile setup you can go the the Logs page to get information about the type of error.
