Rationale for Logical Model
A logical model is useful for defining the relationships between things (objects/actors/entities) in your data model. A logical model is not database specific, like an entity relational model. Usually a conceptual model is first defined before a logical model, and some of this has been done by means of the "HMIS Glossary of Terms" based on the various iterations of the federal HMIS Data Standard.
Changes Needed to Logical Model
The existing data model (see section below) provided with the HMIS 3.0 Schema documentation should be modified to clarify usage and accommodate pending changes to HMIS Data Standard expected in 2014.
