Thanks for @hebcal/leyning — we use it for the weekly aliyot in a daily Torah-study app.
For Parashat Terumah, getLeyningForParshaHaShavua(...).fullkriyah returns:
- Aliyah 2 (Levi): Exodus 25:17–40
- Aliyah 3 (Shlishi): 26:1–14
i.e. the menorah passage (25:31–40) is read as part of the 2nd aliyah. Every other source we checked instead ends the 2nd aliyah at 25:30, putting the menorah at the start of the 3rd aliyah (25:31–26:14):
| Source |
Aliyah 2 |
Aliyah 3 |
@hebcal/leyning |
25:17–40 |
26:1–26:14 |
| Sefaria (calendars API) |
25:17–30 |
25:31–26:14 |
| Chabad.org |
25:17–30 |
25:31–26:14 |
| Torah Temimah / common printed Chumash (Tikkun Yissachar) |
25:17–30 |
25:31–26:14 |
Notably, hebcal.com's own Terumah sedra page already footnotes this: aliyah 2 shows "some sources use 25:17-30" and aliyah 3 "some sources use 25:31-26:14".
This is the only parsha where fullkriyah's aliyot diverge from Sefaria's for us. Two questions:
- Is there a source/authority for the 25:40 default? We'd love to be able to cite it — the sedra page footnotes the alternative but doesn't attribute either division.
- Given Sefaria, the common printed Chumashim, and your own footnote all use 25:30, would you consider making 25:30 the default (or documenting where 25:40 comes from)?
Happy to share the full per-parsha diff. Thanks!
