The ticker redraws the transcript every tick, and every redraw re-ran the highlight regex passes for each long reply. highlightFor() keeps the result per message id while the text is unchanged (bounded, streaming replies still recompute). A worker's tool.call hook awaited the status publish, so every tool call paid a store write plus a process spawn; it now publishes in the background. The herdr agent-list poll gets the same 5 s timeout as the other probes so a stuck CLI cannot hang the poll. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The switchboard band drew over an open survey; it now steps aside. /agt-deck reported "deck open" even when the surface did not place the pane; it now says the deck waits and why. The main spinner replaced the engine's own suffix (the ellipsis) and also rewrote subagent spinners; it now appends to the suffix and leaves a known subagent's spinner alone.
