[Bug]: No Wi-Fi networks visible on ARM64 device, but works fine on x86 #424

Closed

Description

@Mothball2904

Affected area

Foundry Connect

What happened?

When booting in PE on an ARM64 device (a Surface Laptop 7th in my case) and Foundry Connect starts up, it states that there are no Wi-Fi networks visible. Even a provided profile does not work.
Drivers have been installed (checked with pnputil) and adapter is working (checked via netsh).
On a x86 device (an Elitebook 850 G6) which I have as well. Wi-Fi works pretty fine there.

What did you expect?

Make Wi-Fi connections possible like on x86

How can we reproduce it?

Create a boot image for arm64 and enable Wi-Fi
Then boot from it.

Foundry version

v26.10.7.1

Does it happen on the latest release?

Yes

Hi @Mothball2904, thanks for the report and for checking the drivers and adapter first.

This was a bug on my side, and your setup is fine. Connect was passing the Wi-Fi adapter's ID to Windows in a format that x64 accepts but ARM64 rejects, so it could see your adapter but couldn't list networks or detect that a profile had connected.

I have a fix in #425 and it will ship with the next Foundry OSD release, which is about 1 to 2 weeks away.

I couldn't test on ARM64 hardware, so once the release is out, could you confirm Wi-Fi works on your Surface Laptop 7? If it still doesn't, feel free to reopen this issue.
