LOT-115
Closes #206
Claim: cloud/lot-115

Problem

The Plus entry "Rechercher sur le forum" was a placeholder. LOT-046 gave the engine flow, no screen.

What changed

  • ForumSearchModel (@Observable @MainActor) over a ForumSearchSource (live: GlobalSearchFlow, network path unchanged): form, banned-word refusal before any request (Q-7), period as start date, paging by pager paths (first / previous / next / last), Annuler, retry, result opened in the reader at the matching message, category stored in recherche_categorie and sent only once the forum list vouches for it (Apple category hidden, Q-7).
  • ForumSearchView and the wiring in PlusEntryView / RootModel.search (kept across layout changes); ContentLoader.reset().
  • Spec docs/lots/LOT-115-forum-search-screen.md (legacy counterpart, differences, pending captures), CHANGELOG-LEGACY row 72.
  • No engine change, no new dependency.

Tests

App/SwiftHFRTests/Search/ForumSearchModelTests.swift (19 tests), ContentLoaderTests.resetForgetsTheValueAndTheError, RootModelTests updated (search is built). SwiftLint --strict clean locally. The app cannot be built in the cloud: CI is the arbiter. Not shown failing without the change on a Mac (cloud only).

Review

Adversarial review by Opus, 3 rounds: R1 REQUEST CHANGES (7 findings, fixed), R2 REQUEST CHANGES (test compile error + 3 minor, fixed), R3 APPROVE on 43b9edb (two low notes: first-page button disabled without link, folded in; the saved Discussions fallback of setCategories left as is, Q-7).

Mac check needed

For mac/m2-lead:

  • Plus > "Rechercher sur le forum" opens the screen on iPhone and iPad (sidebar); form and results survive a Slide Over / Split View change.
  • A search with accents ("pâtes à l'ail") returns results; one with "jailbreak" shows the warning and sends no request (proxy / log).
  • Words under 4 letters: hint shown, search still runs (what HFR does with them is unsettled, B3).
  • Pager: next / previous / first / last on a multi-page search (pages after the first are not captured, LOT-046).
  • Tap a result: the reader opens at the matching message (SearchHit.postPath).
  • Logged out and as the review account: the Apple category is not in the picker.
  • Light, dark, Dynamic Type XL; "Annuler" during a search.
  • xcodebuild test on iPhone 18 Pro and an iPad simulator (iOS 27.0); run the new tests against a reverted change to confirm they fail.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added a forum search screen with controls for category, matching words, search scope, and time period.
    • Search results can be opened as topics, browsed across pages, and retried after a failed load.
    • Blank or banned-word searches are not submitted; short-word searches display a helpful notice.
    • Starting a new search clears previous results, while paging failures retain results for retry.
    • The selected search category is remembered and restored when available.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

This PR adds a forum search model and live search source, then connects a search screen to root navigation. The screen supports query and category controls, results, and paging. The changes also add ContentLoader.reset() and update search tests and documentation.

Changes: Forum Search

Layer / File(s) Summary
Search query and result model
App/SwiftHFR/Search/ForumSearchModel.swift, App/SwiftHFR/Search/ForumSearchSource.swift, App/SwiftHFR/Navigation/ContentLoader.swift, App/SwiftHFRTests/Search/*, App/SwiftHFRTests/ContentLoaderTests.swift
The model handles query validation, category selection, date ranges, result reading, paging, retry, and cancellation. The live source calls GlobalSearchFlow. ContentLoader.reset() cancels loading and clears its value and error. Tests cover these behaviors.
Search screen and app wiring
App/SwiftHFR/Search/ForumSearchView.swift, App/SwiftHFR/Root/*, App/SwiftHFRTests/Root/RootModelTests.swift, docs/CHANGELOG-LEGACY.md, docs/lots/LOT-115-forum-search-screen.md
The screen displays search controls, results, loading and error states, and page controls. Root wiring passes the search model and environment to the Plus entry. Search is marked built. The LOT-115 specification and legacy changelog are updated.

Suggested labels: type: lot

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 788bb

Author filtering is unavailable, and Apple remains selectable for ordinary signed-in users. Address the required search behavior before merging.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to 788bb

The new search screen sends queries and, when available, an account token to the forum. Requests retain cookie isolation, destination restrictions, and stale-result protections. Live token and pagination behavior remain unconfirmed, and pending searches are not explicitly cancelled when accounts change. No authorization bypass or cross-account disclosure was established.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The newly reachable sensitive data is the user's query and the captured session's hash_check value, sent to the existing forum search endpoint. Search requests do not carry account cookies. Explicitly opening a result enters the existing authenticated topic reader; search-result fetching itself does not use that reader session transport.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The token-bearing POST does not follow redirects. Result destinations are checked as HTTPS forum pages, and pager requests additionally require /forum1.php with recherches=1. Results GETs also reject redirects. Reader links are parsed into typed topic targets and requests are reconstructed from topic identifiers instead of fetching arbitrary result URLs with credentials.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Account-session replacement rebuilds the navigation with a separate root, containing old search state rather than transferring it to the new account. However, root disappearance cancels filtering only, while search runs in an independently owned task. A pending search can therefore outlive account switching or removal. The flow is bounded to the submitted search and results fetch, with no automatic retry; cross-account result disclosure was not established.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Bind pending search cancellation to account-session replacement or root teardown, while preserving intentional state across layout changes. This would tighten the lifetime of operations retaining a former account's token without treating ordinary search-screen navigation as account revocation.
  • proposed — Validate the documented external assumptions with cookie-less search exchanges using both empty and account tokens, plus a subsequent results page. Until then, do not treat token acceptance or pagination identity semantics as demonstrated authorization guarantees.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

[#206] The model and view implement word, category and date search, banned-word warnings, short-word help, pagination and result navigation. Swift Testing cases cover the model. The form has no author field, and the model does not pass an author in GlobalSearchQuery. The accent test checks text passed to a fake source, not network encoding. Evidence that each new test fails without the change is not provided.

Resolution

Add author search to the form and query, with automated tests. Provide evidence of accent encoding and that each new test fails without the change.

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 33.33% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 24 functions across 12 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Add author search to the form and query

The form cannot send an author criterion: its scope options search only titles and content, and the endpoint always sends an empty pseud. Members therefore cannot search by author as required. Add an author criterion and carry it through the search flow.

Exclude Apple from search categories.

For an ordinary signed-in account, ForumVisibility retains Apple. The picker can therefore offer Apple and send category 25 in a search, contrary to the search requirement.
