[Task] Admit and verify Core-owned Studio and Extensions maintenance commits #8683

Closed

Description

@sfmskywalker

Accepted on actual main 2a17d4635b75364b6577c21d217fec724ade9ab8 through normally merged #8689. Seven-criterion acceptance verifies actual ordered parents, unchanged reviewed tree, all nine exact-head CI workflows, independent review/Greptile and original artifact audits with explicit evidence limits. All35 advertised3.8/3.9 release refs across Core, Studio and Extensions are included; latest stable remains3.9.0 in all three repositories. Earlier reports retain their original execution identities.

All seven Task criteria are satisfied. Board target: Done / Accepted / Verification Passed. #8688 becomes the next bounded Task after this accepted closure. #8216/#8217/#8220 and the full program remain open for the separately recorded release and operational outcomes. No publication, permanent maintenance-ref/protection activation, publisher cutover or archival is claimed. Historical checkpoints below are superseded by this acceptance where they describe this Task as active or pending.

Program: #8194
Parent: #8216
Predecessors: #8677 and #8679 accepted on main. #8683 is the sole active delivery Task.

Outcome

Make the preserved Studio and Extensions 3.8/3.9 layouts usable for subsequent reviewed Core maintenance commits with truthful Core package/SourceLink identities and verified source bytes. Historical original-source rehearsal alone is insufficient for this outcome. Preserve existing Core maintenance branches and the owner's selected support lines/history.

Grounded gap

At reviewed controller cfcf178671f33909d7fa04a0435e41a9964ca549, selection admits only four original source commits. All four original root Directory.Build.props hard-code their former repository URL; merely changing checkout origin does not establish Core package metadata. The maintenance verifier checks immutable local source bytes, but does not fetch Core SourceLink bytes. Existing inherited placeholder exceptions are bound to original commits. These are follow-on capability gaps, not failures of #8677's explicitly historical scope.

Scope

  • Retain immutable original register rows and unchanged original mode. Add the smallest explicit, reviewed product/line/exact-SHA/tree/parent/original-anchor admission path for Core-created descendants of the verified workflow-contained source chains.
  • Prepare minimal Core metadata bridge candidates for all four supported cells without changing original layout, dependency pins, test blobs or inert workflow copies. Preserve the consolidated main tree. The reviewed implementation uses two sets of four ordered ancestry-only exposure merges (bridges, then maintenance descendants) that preserve each preceding consolidated controller tree and exact reviewed parent pairs. This exposes immutable candidate objects through an ordinary implementation branch without activating permanent maintenance refs.
  • Produce truthful selected-Core-commit repository/PDB/SourceLink metadata. Verify each tracked remote Core source against both the immutable Git blob and PDB checksum. Reuse the narrow existing URL/hash retrieval primitive; do not import unrelated 3.10-specific policy.
  • Preserve evaluated project/TFM inventory, actual positive tests, package/symbol associations, SDK dependency/framework-reference checks in both archives, private diagnostics and bounded failure/success receipts. Inherit a placeholder only through its registered original anchor and unchanged exact declaration/blob/runtime representation; skips remain skips.
  • Demonstrate continuing admission for a subsequent reviewed descendant. Four fixed bridge proofs do not establish the final writable capability. Unknown candidates, arbitrary refs, cross-line/product ancestry and publisher selection remain rejected.

Acceptance criteria

  • Reviewed exact candidate graph and source/metadata deltas preserve all four original histories/layouts and workflow containment; any ancestry-only merges preserve the preceding consolidated tree exactly. Actual Core raw-SHA reachability is observed, never inferred from a push or local object.
  • Original mode remains valid. Core mode rejects unknown SHA, wrong product/line/anchor/parent/tree, foreign or active historical workflows, repository/commit mismatches and changed inherited-placeholder evidence.
  • A small real SDK/package/PDB fixture demonstrates the Core metadata and remote-byte path before expensive product proofs; contracts cover missing/wrong/foreign remote bytes and truthful failure/privacy reporting.
  • Fresh exact-controller/candidate hosted original-layout build/test/package/symbol proof succeeds for Studio 3.8, Studio 3.9, Extensions 3.8 and Extensions 3.9 across every evaluated required TFM. Independently read original provider ZIPs and actual archives/receipts, preserving explicit skipped and producer-evidence limits.
  • A subsequent reviewed per-line maintenance descendant exercises the same controlled admission/proof path; parent admission does not automatically authorize descendants. Document the continuing contributor/reviewer procedure and dependency-change handling under the settled coordinated-update policy.
  • Independent current-head APPROVE + HIGH, applicable exact-head CI and Greptile pass. Integrate through the shared program branch and main; verify actual merged parents/tree and publish bounded acceptance.
  • Record the remaining exact permanent refs/protections, production version/tag policy, artifact-only publisher/authority retirement, recovery and archival operations. No writable-home or publisher activation is claimed by this nonpublishing capability proof.

Boundaries

Use isolated worktrees and preserve user changes. The root owns integration and QA. No registry upload, publishing credentials/OIDC, permanent maintenance-ref activation, source authority/settings changes, archival, new React Studio or Slack work. Operational approval packets remain #8216/#8220; individually selectable production releases remain #8217; paired current-source npm archives remain #8679. Full later 3.10 acceptance is retained.

Readiness and delivery checkpoint

Historical review rework at 28fcb10 (superseded by the corrective-PR checkpoint above): Greptile4/5 on28fcb105 does not meet the required5/5 gate. Imported project .user settings are misclassified as ordinary source for future registered continuations; the eight current metadata-only candidates are unaffected. Confirmed finding and bounded correction. #8683 is the sole active Task, In Progress / Assigned / Verification Failed. Earlier clean reviews retain their exact-head attribution; no acceptance is claimed. #8688 stays queued.

Final main integration is now PR #8689, head 28fcb105b33951d8efaf2e48ff9ee4b44cf54eef. Slice #8687 is normally merged; its actual ordered parents and identical reviewed tree were verified. Two clean lead passes and current integration checkpoint. Independent exact-head APPROVE + HIGH now passes with no actionable findings. Greptile/CodeRabbit, hosted CI and current-head artifact QA remain pending. All earlier32-entry terminal gates and artifact executions below belong to the slice headb2864e, not this new merge head. Main acceptance remains pending; #8688 stays queued.

In Progress / In Review / Verification Running; sole active delivery Task. #8677/#8679 remain accepted on actual main b286a49a25f3a85db9bdd640700118986a771023. PR #8687 has exact head b2864e8600e4b83fa1f7cf37cd496e42adfb2fe0, tree 8398ad1f12cc886fa183c61528b65c2b1cd43904.

Current consolidated proof and original-provider artifact audit passed at exact b2864e8600e4b83fa1f7cf37cd496e42adfb2fe0:232 package/symbol pairs,689 framework pairs and all six Admission consumer cells across .NET8/9/10 and classic/shell. Original ZIP identity, complete readback, independent archive-verifier replay and producer-evidence limits are recorded there. All32 PR entries are terminal (25 SUCCESS/seven expected SKIPPED); independent APPROVE + HIGH, Greptile5/5 and CodeRabbit cover the exact head. Both publishers remain skipped. Shared/main integration, actual merged-graph verification and seven-criterion acceptance are pending; #8683 remains the sole active Task and #8688 remains queued.

Eight-source maintenance archive evidence: run37935185809 attempt1, all eight B+D jobs and original provider ZIP audits passed;520 package/symbol pairs,1,560 TFM pairs,6,644 positive executions and eight separately retained inherited skipped cells. All69 maintenance and93 consolidated contracts pass normally and optimized at the byte-identical committed tree. The small real SDK/package/PDB and strict remote-byte fixture retains its original8857 controller/9bff source attribution; its production helper remains unchanged, and archives/Git bytes were rechecked, not rebuilt or relabeled as current execution.

The TCP readiness correction's regression fails both scenarios with the prior socket probe. A committed-head controlled initialization check waits for the final TCP server and verifies owned cleanup. The earlier failed consolidated run37927252136 remains failed/category service_command with no stderr; exact hosted cause unknown. The earlier784 Packages attempt1 cleanup failure is retained; its single targeted attempt2 passed. Currentb2864e Packages attempt1 passed without retry. Earlier failure and diagnostic evidence. No speculative exception suppression or HTTP retry was introduced.

The13:47:55UTC source refresh confirmed latest stable3.9.0 across Core, Studio and Extensions; all35 advertised3.8/3.9 refs were independently rechecked as ancestors of actual Core main. Receipt SHA256 7fde6b99b8a2ea61f593d179cbb73c8916d64a50af2a49e03f3761a6b603269e; root ancestry reconciliation a34291c50373b53a93052b786007ee39a958e235472357d162a63e27b579ca79. Canonical user changes remain untouched.

The dated operations register records proposed permanent refs and unresolved exact tips/protections, version/tag policy (#8217), artifact-only publishers, authority retirement/quiescence, recovery and archival (#8220). These are recorded remaining operations, not activated authority. Independent product releases remain required before source retirement. All seven acceptance checkboxes stay open until actual-main integration and bounded acceptance.

Read-only readiness packet prepared while #8679 remains the sole active Task. #8677's main acceptance is complete; the stale readiness wording has been reconciled. This Task remains Todo / Not Ready until the current delivery sequence permits implementation.

The lead reviewed all four exact original→contained starting chains, their complete parent arrays/trees, unchanged source hashes and workflow-only containment deltas. The Studio and Extensions 3.9 originals are merge commits; their immutable original SHAs bind the full graph, while the legacy register's parent field denotes the first parent. Preserve those rows and use complete parent arrays for new candidate evidence.

One bounded Core raw-SHA sample on an already merged original Studio anchor returned HTTP 200 and exactly matched its 317-byte Git blob (SHA-256 2910302c2fe134440e6a2153268e4ca0249ef8040479432377b14f8e3799b8f7). The four contained commits are existing local objects and are not main ancestors; no contained or future bridge reachability is claimed. The sample supports investigating reviewed ancestry exposure without permanent maintenance refs, not package/PDB SourceLink acceptance.

The proposed first bridge delta is RepositoryUrl only, preserving original layouts, pins, test blobs, homepage metadata and inert workflows. Any ancestry-only exposure must record ordered parents and retain the first parent's consolidated tree exactly, with explicit review of the source commits hidden from the final tree diff. Validate a tiny actual SDK/package/PDB producer seam before expensive product proofs; then prove all four cells and continuing individually admitted descendants. No implicit descendant admission or publisher authority is introduced.

Lead independently verified all nine source hashes/Git bytes, four complete parent/tree bindings, workflow-only moves, inertness and the observed sample's immutable Git binding. No objects/refs, checkout changes, builds, tests, permanent maintenance homes, publishing authority or operational activation were created. Exact future candidates, actual SDK output, hosted proofs and operational handoff remain required.

Bounded read-only readiness evidence while #8679 remains the sole active Task: all four original Studio/Extensions 3.8/3.9 anchors expose a representative production C# file through an exact immutable Core raw URL.

Original anchor Source sample HTTP / exact Git bytes
    Studio 3.8 9bff3f785fd13bd80a3a7ecf88fec4aec8eef7ae src/framework/Elsa.Studio.Core/Abstractions/FeatureBase.cs 200; 317 bytes; SHA-256 2910302c2fe134440e6a2153268e4ca0249ef8040479432377b14f8e3799b8f7
Studio 3.9 a30ed7c997dfb3cff1d5d095a4ee19ff03c7fe42 same original path 200; same exact bytes/hash
    Extensions 3.8 154ba15fb4da85b4bebecfbe43639579cbda1d0d src/modules/agents/Elsa.Agents.Activities/Activities/AgentActivity.cs 200; 3,106 bytes; SHA-256 03c807030009b205fb1ed904046fb51b7a2e2f8cbcdd48ad6acfed02eb85822b
Extensions 3.9 89d4eb9b739ae135604aac2a1de18653a289bdb0 same original path 200; same exact bytes/hash

Both investigator and lead requested the actual https://raw.githubusercontent.com/elsa-workflows/elsa-core/<original-anchor>/<original-path> URLs and compared each response byte-for-byte with its exact Git blob. Each returned HTTP 200 without redirect. Full tree and ordered-parent identities were verified, preserving both parents for the two 3.9 merge anchors.

The lead fully read and hash-verified the independent report (57cbf89c61440af91c1deb0eb0bb9ff28e3eedb3b076202f760776254a4393d6) and machine evidence (89229a3003dfb4550d856a11aaaa3e1c69efba2866e4360a9918068a28bbeae1), then independently repeated the four HTTP/Git comparisons. Lead readback SHA-256: e63e3f1758995b817943d331e7252af123e6d32e432d3fbdf4c583c50fda08b1. The isolated A221 QA checkout remained clean.

This verifies only these four historical source-file samples. It does not establish a future candidate/bridge's remote reachability, SDK SourceLink generation, package/PDB behavior, writable maintenance capability or this Task's acceptance. No builds, workflows, candidate objects, refs, publisher settings or repository files changed. #8683 remains Todo / Not Ready / Pending under the one-active-task sequence; the small real SDK/package/PDB fixture and all required candidate/descendant proofs still must be implemented after #8679 main acceptance.

Queued-source intake refreshed at 2026-10-09 10:17 UTC and reviewed by the lead at 10:26 UTC. Latest stable remains 3.9.0 in Core, Studio and Extensions. All 35 advertised 3.8.x/3.9.0 branch/tag entries match the prior snapshot; the lead independently verified each advertised object, tag peel and commit ancestry against actual Core main 061ddf3973f6b86becaff6e927438d17d1b8065c, plus the complete ordered parents of the four source anchors and Core 3.9 release merges. Studio and Extensions main heads are unchanged; their existing notice-only comparisons remain applicable. No matching candidate-admission/provenance PR was found; dependency update PRs were not adopted.

This is readiness evidence only. #8679 remains the sole active delivery Task while #8685 finishes its exact-head CI gates; #8683 stays Todo / Not Ready / Pending. No candidate implementation, branch/ref/settings changes, publication or SourceLink/PDB acceptance is claimed.

Claiming #8683 as the sole active delivery Task after #8679 actual-main acceptance. Base/shared target is actual main b286a49a25f3a85db9bdd640700118986a771023, tree 0407d373f981c9b29e491b739051e200214682ea. Fresh intake rechecked all three latest stable releases (3.9.0), all 35 advertised 3.8.x/3.9.0 refs and their ancestry in this new main, all nine maintenance/controller/source-register file identities, and open PR inventories (59 Core, 15 Studio, 16 Extensions). No matching candidate-admission PR was found. Intake receipt SHA-256: adbe6e20e51c9fbab28d7044b3a6342ff738ad38976655a25d3ff4f3b98c81c8.

The lead adopts the bounded graph design from the reviewed readiness packet: preserve immutable original O and workflow-contained K commits; exact single-parent bridge B above K changes only root RepositoryUrl to Core, with PackageProjectUrl, original layout/pins/tests/inert workflow bytes preserved. Controller/exposure merges explicitly record all parents and preserve the consolidated first-parent tree. Every later descendant needs its own reviewed exact registration and proof; parent admission is not descendant admission. Preserve both original parent edges at 3.9 anchors.

First bounded implementation checkpoint: original-mode regression plus exact candidate admission/metadata/remote-byte proof seam and meaningful negative contracts, then a tiny real SDK/DLL/PDB/package fixture before expensive product matrices. Sol 6.1 owns implementation in a dedicated isolated worktree; Luna 6 Extra High supplies independent review and the lead retains final integration/QA. Report any fixture-observed need for additional metadata or dependency/architecture changes before expanding the initial allowlist. No push/exposure or costly matrix until the lead reviews the concrete graph and focused fixture evidence.

All seven Task acceptance criteria remain open. Subsequent four-cell and continuing-descendant proofs are still required, followed by exact-head review/CI/Greptile and normal shared/main integration. No permanent maintenance refs, publication, credentials/OIDC, publisher/settings/authority activation, archival, Slack or new React Studio work is authorized by this claim.

First #8683 producer checkpoint: a tiny actual SDK 10.0.300 fixture built and packed unchanged Studio FeatureBase/IFeature source from original reachable anchor 9bff3f785fd13bd80a3a7ecf88fec4aec8eef7ae, using explicit Core repository/exact-revision metadata. Both actual main/symbol nuspecs identify Core and that exact commit. The trusted DLL/PDB inspector verified the pair, two executable method bodies, and the SDK-produced Core SourceLink map. The lead observed both tracked source URLs return HTTP 200 without redirects and match the immutable Git blobs and PDB checksums. Three embedded SDK-generated documents separately match the actual generated files and PDB checksums.

This is the deliberately small producer/remote-byte seam, not candidate admission, bridge-props inheritance, full five-document maintenance policy verification, or any original-layout product/TFM acceptance. Original fixture outputs place generated files outside the checkout; existing maintenance generated-source policy remains unchanged. Direct invocation of the frozen new tracked-source helper and its negative contracts is next. All seven Task acceptance criteria stay open.

Bounded readback receipt SHA-256: a42b23304b64b7a025907246759579bec68f5f653d2f0c05fd4dd6925318c35a. Maintenance capability checkpoint: local controller 8857f6595697b57a9aa67913c831f7816ea8d0c2 has passed lead source review, 57 maintenance and 44 shared consolidated contracts in both normal and optimized Python, actionlint and diff checks. The original source register and containment ledger are unchanged.

The actual SDK-produced package/PDB fixture now passes the frozen production helper for both tracked documents: immutable Git bytes, PDB checksums and strictly fetched Core URL bytes agree. Strict retrieval prevents redirect following and bounds responses to the immutable blob length plus one byte. This is the two-tracked-document seam at original anchor 9bff3f785fd13bd80a3a7ecf88fec4aec8eef7ae with explicit fixture metadata; it does not prove inherited bridge metadata, generated-source policy or full products. Producer-seam receipt SHA256: 8ebb66f830afbe15613746e2936d41186c29c60f93a669d11ef950dd6c730c88.

Four local ancestry-only merges preserve the entire reviewed controller tree 93487df489064ee544f281e3e46173c0ae3f1902; the same producer CLI selection/admission path succeeds for all four exact bridge commits. Final local object dcc76a1fb5735539a7c2d6f9bf626305ff338399 is under independent source/graph review. No branch has been pushed, no bridge remote reachability is claimed, and no product matrix has started. Continuing-descendant capability remains unimplemented; all seven task acceptance criteria remain open.

The predecessor's actual-main Packages run 37917848726 at b286a49a25f3a85db9bdd640700118986a771023 is now terminal success. Unit/integration, component, package build and coverage passed; Feedz, NuGet publication and coverage deployment were explicitly skipped. #8683 remains the sole active delivery Task.

Bounded acceptance of #8683 on actual Core main 2a17d4635b75364b6577c21d217fec724ade9ab8 through normally merged #8689, merged 2026-10-09 16:21:45 UTC. Actual ordered parents are b286a49a25f3a85db9bdd640700118986a771023 and 06605714827989ab991c6385fd1f794aec1b8338; complete tree ce5e072b287bff5cec2a02bf186fb159c6e1ffe6 equals the reviewed integration and maintenance-proof trees.

All seven Task criteria were checked against the final source, graph, original artifacts and current provider evidence:

    Criterion Accepted evidence and boundary
    1. Histories, exact deltas and containment All four O/K/B/D chains and eight ordered tree-preserving exposure merges verified on actual main. Earlier actual Core raw-byte observations retain their immutable source/controller identities.
    2. Admission and original mode Original register unchanged; explicit source/product/line/anchor/parent/tree, workflow, metadata and placeholder rejection contracts pass. Final .user correction reviewed and tested; 69 normal/optimized contracts retain their actual execution identities.
    3. Small real SDK/PDB/remote proof Retained real fixture at original9bff/controller8857 and strict remote-byte contracts verified; the entire shared helper remains byte-identical. This is retained fixture evidence, not a new main execution.
    4. Four supported source cells All eight bridge/descendant original provider ZIPs at77e8/run37945502311A1 audited: 520 package pairs, 1,560 framework pairs and 6,644 positive test executions. Eight inherited skipped cells remain skips.
    5. Continuing maintenance Four separately registered reviewed D descendants pass the same controlled proof; a registered parent never authorizes an arbitrary descendant. Contributor procedure and coordinated dependency-update boundary documented. Current D examples are metadata maintenance, not production bug fixes.
    6. Review, CI and integration Independent066 APPROVE+HIGH, Greptile5/5, two clean lead passes, completed CodeRabbit and all nine exact-head workflows succeeded. Original066 consolidated ZIP audit passed: 232 package/symbol pairs, 689 framework pairs, six consumer cells. Actual main parents/tree and source intake verified.
    7. Remaining operations recorded Permanent refs/protections, production version/tag policy, selected artifact-only publishing, authority retirement/quiescence, recovery and archival are recorded as separate remaining work. They were not activated by this proof.

Final gate and detailed archive evidence/limits. New post-merge intake independently re-read all three source repositories: latest stable remains3.9.0, and all35 advertised3.8/3.9 tag/branch commits are ancestors of actual main (Core12/Studio13/Extensions10). Studio/Extensions'31 open PR identities still match the dated handoff register; open proposals are preserved, not implicitly adopted. Core#8689 is the only prior-open-PR delta.

Acceptance receipt SHA-256 86cb85e5999553b4bb59aa060144435d8b845baa284778fa18f4be449bb7474c; source refresh b175144c2eccb6c882eb0899096123500f29e7a15db25159776e5c54a6639ab1; independent root source readback 6d94730079df930e5e737a872b769a68625d796a6fd599b0f73bfce53ca78848.

Runtime/PE/PDB/generator/SDK/remote SourceLink evidence remains scoped to the hosted/retained reports as described in the final gate. No artifact execution is relabelled as main, no skipped test is called passed, and no all-package runtime certification is claimed. Actual-main push CI is a separate follow-up observation and is still running.

This closes only #8683. #8216/#8217/#8220 and the program remain open for individual releases, permanent maintenance homes/protections, publishers/recovery, competing-authority retirement, approved archival and later full3.10 acceptance. No package upload, production publisher activation, permanent maintenance ref/protection or repository archival occurred. #8688 is the next bounded delivery Task; Slack remains deferred and new React Studio follows cutover.

Post-merge verification is complete for actual main 2a17d4635b75364b6577c21d217fec724ade9ab8: Packages run 37958566941, attempt 1 succeeded.

Root read all eight actual job conclusions: component tests, unit/integration tests, package build and coverage generation succeeded; publication selection, both package publishers and coverage deployment were skipped. This is a separate actual-main follow-up, not a relabelling of the previously accepted exact-source artifact proofs. No publisher, deployment, permanent maintenance ref, old-authority retirement or archival was activated.

Recreating the absent temporary integration branch triggered duplicate baseline run 37960152346 on the same commit. That owned duplicate is now verified cancelled; the primary main run was retained and completed successfully.

Root reconciliation receipt SHA-256: fc574ee4a85ff69849a07605175e1dfb8bc8923af7e9569048871362991a773a. #8683 remains accepted; #8688 remains the single active delivery Task under #8217. The program and operational acceptance gates remain open.
