Staff+ engineer · Distributed systems · Regulated EU fintech

15+ years building backend systems across fintech, prop-tech, and banking — from individual contributor to CTO, including standing up an engineering organization from zero. These days I work as an independent contractor out of the Prague region, mostly on the parts of a system that have to be correct under load, under audit, and at 3 a.m.

Event-driven architecture · CQRS / event sourcing · CDC pipelines · Cloud-native infrastructure
Go · Java · Compliance engineering (DORA, NIS2, ISO 27001, EU AI Act)

What I'm working on

Audit-grade observability for AI agents. A platform concept aimed at regulated EU financial institutions that need to prove what their AI systems actually did — OTLP ingestion, a WORM evidence store on ClickHouse, a CEL policy engine, and signed evidence export mapped to DORA, NIS2, and the EU AI Act. It sits at the intersection of three things I keep coming back to: AI tooling, compliance engineering, and observability infrastructure you can hand to an auditor.

AI-assisted engineering, done properly. Spec-driven development and multi-agent workflows with Claude Code — treating agent output as something to be reviewed, constrained, and evidenced rather than trusted by default.

Things I'm good at

  • Systems that can't lose data. CDC pipelines, exactly-once semantics where it matters, replay and reprocessing paths, dead-letter handling you can actually inspect without destroying it.
  • Migrations without a big bang. Strangler-fig rewrites, runtime swaps, schema evolution on live databases.
  • Compliance as engineering. Turning DORA, NIS2, and ISO 27001 requirements into cluster configuration, audit trails, and evidence — not slide decks.
  • Building teams. Hiring, architecture review, on-call culture, and the unglamorous work of making an engineering org survive its own growth.
