TL;DR

The failed Buildkite jobs are caused by the elastic-package bump to v0.125.1: it now renders HTTP endpoint docs with HTTP Endpoint capitalization and enforces category consistency between policy templates and their data streams. This is a dependency/tooling validation failure, not an infra retry candidate.

Remediation

  • Rebuild or update the stale generated READMEs for packages/doppler and packages/kolide so Http endpoint / Http Endpoint becomes HTTP Endpoint.
  • Align the affected policy template and data stream categories for AWS, GCP, and Tencent Cloud; if the existing policy template security category is intended, add security to the listed data stream manifests.
  • Validate with the same package checks: .buildkite/scripts/test_one_package.sh packages/aws origin/main fb8da4a23722ee260ffc4604bb8582378e18c82b, and repeat for doppler, gcp, kolide, and tencent_cloud.
Investigation details

Root Cause

PR #19960 only updates github.com/elastic/elastic-package from v0.125.0 to v0.125.1 in go.mod / go.sum. The failing checks are package lint/build checks whose generated output or validation changed under the new tool version.

Two failure groups are present:

  1. Generated docs drift

    • packages/doppler/docs/README.md:101, :103, :105 still use Http endpoint / Http Endpoint.
    • packages/kolide/docs/README.md:184, :186, :188 still use Http endpoint / Http Endpoint.
    • elastic-package v0.125.1 includes commit 120bf2edf2349d7fdf7e17718602ca95ce3dd5d2 (docs/_static/inputs: fix input name capitalisations), which changes the rendered expected text to HTTP Endpoint.
  2. Policy-template/data-stream category mismatch
The new lint rejects policy templates whose categories are not present on the referenced data stream manifests:

Package Policy template Template categories Data stream manifest categories Evidence
aws transitgateway security at packages/aws/manifest.yml:704-710 aws, network, observability at packages/aws/data_stream/transitgateway/manifest.yml:1-5 missing security
gcp vpcflow security at packages/gcp/manifest.yml:93-99 cloud, google_cloud, network, observability at packages/gcp/data_stream/vpcflow/manifest.yml:1-7 missing security
gcp loadbalancing security at packages/gcp/manifest.yml:165-172 cloud, google_cloud, observability at packages/gcp/data_stream/loadbalancing_metrics/manifest.yml:1-6 and packages/gcp/data_stream/loadbalancing_logs/manifest.yml:1-7 missing security
tencent_cloud cos, clb security, observability at packages/tencent_cloud/manifest.yml:72-97 observability at packages/tencent_cloud/data_stream/cos/manifest.yml:1-4 and packages/tencent_cloud/data_stream/clb/manifest.yml:1-4 missing security

Evidence

README.md is outdated. Rebuild the package with 'elastic-package build'

Verification

  • Inspected the Buildkite failure summaries and job logs under /tmp/gh-aw/buildkite-logs/.
  • Checked the PR diff and confirmed the only source changes are the elastic-package dependency bump plus indirect Go module updates.
  • Traced the reported failures to the current package manifests and READMEs listed above.
  • Did not rerun the package checks locally; the CI logs already contain deterministic lint/readme diffs for each failing package.
