Clip output folders collide case-insensitively and a name can end in a space #40

Open

Description

@doubletwisted

Needs an owner decision (low).

spool/projects.py:27 and :258.

  • Intro and intro get separate folders, which are one directory on Windows and macOS. A file dropped there joins both clips.
  • Name truncation runs after stripping, so a folder name can end in a space.
  • CONIN$ is not in the reserved-name list.

A fix changes the folder names of newly created clips. Decide whether that is acceptable.

Implementation status (2026-11-07)

PR #35 allocates new output folders with case-insensitive uniqueness, safe device names and trimmed trailing spaces/dots. Existing assigned folders remain unchanged. Focused regressions and the full Windows gate pass. Review/merge remains open. Current branch head: cf37734368c3de9a6d576a7222f26aa345adc107.
