Bug report

Description

Docker Desktop crashed while running docker compose up for a project that builds a Java/Gradle application.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Run docker compose up in the project folder.
  2. The Docker build reaches: RUN ./gradlew build -x test.

Expected behavior

The build completes, or reports a build error without Docker Desktop crashing.

Actual behavior

Gradle reported:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /home/gradle/.gradle/daemon/9.6.1/registry.bin.lock (Read-only file system)

Then Docker reported:
failed to receive status: rpc error: code = Unavailable desc = error reading from server: EOF

Docker Desktop then showed:
service command exited with code -1; session healthcheck failed fatally: Unavailable: connection error: desc = "transport: Error while dialing: only one connection allowed"

Environment

Docker Desktop 4.96.1 on Windows, using the WSL 2 backend.
A simple Alpine container ran successfully after disabling “Use containerd for pulling and storing images” in Docker Desktop settings.
