Legacy System with Documentation

This repository was originally designed to contain my professional resume.

Most resumes are Word documents. Some are PDFs. A few are websites.

Mine is currently YAML because after 35 years in technology, I trust source control more than recruiters.

If there is one thing I've learned from a decade of business analaysis, however, it's that the more thorougly you explain something, the deeper your taxonomy, the more commitment you put in to the fine details of a project (or joke), basically the more useful something is, the less attention people will give it. In fact, it will effectivelly become invisible, the stuff of legend, the documentation for the operating system.

So, naturally, my YAML resume slowly became a narrative accounting of my technical, creative, and personal self, including links to my professional and creative output, likes and dislikes, ways of thinking, beliefs I hold, dreams I have, and everything else that should be more relevant to a recruiter than the fact that I have a GenTran certification on the wall in my office that I earned back in 1998.

Would a human care? Would anyone read it? No.

Could it be absorbed by an AI in a matter of seconds who could then evaluate me against a company/job description or dating profile to make a base determination of compatibility? Also, no, but it should, so maybe one day.

The point is, I beleive software should be inspectable. I believe corporations should be inspectable. It is, therefore, arrogant of me not to beleive people should likewise be inspectable. So think of this as a browsable model of a person.

This repo envisions the death of the outmoded, usually ignored resume/CV. I believe, in the future, technology will scan the entirety of my experience, skillset, and passions, and finally confirm what, subconsciously, I have known all along. Darrin, based on everything you are, want to be, and love doing, your ideal position is not CMMC-compliant cloud operations. It's either:

  • Assistant Museum Curator/Marketing Director in Kaunas, Lithuania
  • Overnight Freeform Disc Jockey in Weaver Bay or similar tourist trap beachfront town
  • Product evangelist for currently undiscovered bizarre sport
  • Head of R&D for a radical new form of Circus that incorporates both Barnum and Baudrillard

Unlike most enterprise systems of similar age, I will be soon be fully documented, actively maintained, cloud-compatible, and unlikely to be retired soon.
