WhatIsAstraDIY
AstraDIY is a collaborative project dedicated to designing, building, and documenting innovative hardware and software solutions for astrophotography enthusiasts. The initiative emerged from the development of AstrAlim, a power management module tailored for astrophotography setups. This foundational project addressed the need to efficiently power and manage computing systems required for various components of an astrophotography setup.
Building on this, the AstrOnStep project was conceived to drive stepper motors for applications such as focusers and a experimental harmonic drive mounts. Inspired by existing projects like OnStep and Astroberry, AstrOnStep aims to provide a versatile and reimagined approach to stepper motor control. A highlight of this development is the integration of AstrOnStep into the first release of HEMY Harmonic DIY Mount, a custom-designed mount created by one of our main contributer.
As the journey continued, we explored the TeenAstro-Redux project, refining and adapting it for seamless integration with the HEMY mount. This effort ensures compatibility and offers a streamlined solution for controlling advanced astrophotography setups.
To complement these hardware innovations, AstraDIY curates and develops the associated software resources. It serves as a repository for tools, documentation, and archived versions of our hardware designs.
The current repository was made in order to provide for archiving support for the AstrAlim, AstrOnStep boards project. As well some elements about the HEMY Harmonical DIY mount with regards to Software.
