But for Steam Deck users who play in Game Mode, there’s not really any sure fire way to use this.
The pitch: a plugin for Decky Loader, a modified menu system for the Steam Deck’s Game Mode that supports custom plugin usage.
The idea is simple. Much like the existing Discord Status plugin that already exists, there’s plugin would attempt to run in the background whenever in Game Mode and connected to the internet. If both these parameters are met, the plugin will send the RetroAchievements presence data directly to your discord, overriding the standard “playing on Steam Deck” button without having to have three different programs open
There are three major hurdles to overcome with this idea:
1: Decky plugins are known to sometimes break whenever SteamOS rolls out an update. Once rolled out, this plugin will need to be checked in on every time a Steam update rolls out
2: there are specific parameters that need to be met for a plugin to be put on the Decky Store. Targets should be made for both the Testing Store and the Stable store. Initial installs via ZIP files can also be done
3: the plugin will need to integrate nicely with other plugins. Particularly any discord-related ones like the aforementioned Discord Status
