This is a template for a 6x9 inch paperback book to be printed via Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing). Margin sizes are set based on KDP requirements, here: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/GVBQ3CMEQW3W2VL6
Currently set for:
- 6 x 9 inch trim
- no bleed (no images to very edge of pages)
- actually current margins work for bleed as well
- less than 151 pages: Inside margin (agaisnt spine) >= 0.375 inches
- outside margin (not against spine): >= 0.250 in.

Demis D. John made this Typst layout template for the Amazon KDP printed softcover book (linked here), using Gemini to generate the initial template, and subsequently many modifications to tailor it to a textbook-style with 3-levels of headings, tables and many figures. Manual modifications included adding the functions.typ file containing utility functions, Chapters as separate *.typ files, combined Table of Contents and List of Figures logic, external file for copyright page, setup textbook-style Chapter/Section/Subsection headings numbering/formatting, page numbering for front/back-matter, and allowing the List of Figures to include "short names" instead of the full caption going into the LOF.
