This OpenRefine installation troubleshooting instruction no longer works for some Mac users:
"If Mac shows a notification when you try to run the program that it cannot verify the developer, click Cancel. Then, Right-click or Ctrl-click the icon and select Open. The notification will now have an Open button. If it does not allow to open the program, repeat the process and there will be an Open button the second time."
For a recent workshop, I had to find different advice to install OpenRefine 3.10.0 on a Mac using Sonoma 14.8.5. This was also the only approach that worked for some learners.
Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Choose System Settings from the drop-down menu.
Select Privacy & Security in the left-hand pane.
Scroll down to find the alert about OpenRefine being blocked from use.
Click on the Open Anyway button.
This approach could be added to the instructor notes or the public setup instructions.
