> freezes?
change your stream delay while you are live.
no obs restart. no transcoding. no license.
> features?
✓ set the delay anywhere from 0 to 600s, mid stream
✓ a delay lands at the next keyframe, however large it is
✓ takes effect without touching obs or dropping the stream
✓ cuts land on keyframes, so the picture never breaks
✓ keeps airing the buffered show after obs stops or crashes
✓ twitch, youtube, kick, or any rtmp / rtmps ingest
✓ video and audio pass through untouched, byte for byte
✓ your stream key never leaves this machine
> install?
grab freezes-Setup-0.2.0.exe from releases.
windows will warn you about an unrecognised app. it is unsigned:
a certificate costs a few hundred a year and this does not sell
anything. more info → run anyway, or build it yourself below.
> build?
git clone https://github.com/dancer/freezes.git
cd freezes
bun install
bun run package:win
the installer lands in apps/desktop/release.
> setup?
obs → settings → stream → service: custom
server rtmp://127.0.0.1:1935/live
key anything
paste your real ingest url and key into freezes, press start,
then go live in obs. move the slider whenever you like.
> heads up?
you cannot make time out of nothing. taking a delay replays a
moment your viewers already saw; giving one back skips a moment
they had coming. freezes holds on to the show it has already
sent, so a delay lands at the next keyframe however large it is,
rather than freezing the picture for as long as you asked for.
early in a stream there is not much to replay yet. it goes back
as far as it can and waits out the rest, and the slider shows
how far it can currently reach.
keep obs on a 2s keyframe interval and b-frames off. cuts can
only land on a keyframe, so a longer interval means coarser
changes. enhanced broadcasting is not supported.
the buffer lives in memory, not on disk. it keeps ten minutes of
history whatever the delay is set to, because that is what makes
a jump instant. at 8 Mbps that is roughly 600 MB, capped, and
wiped when the app exits.
press stop in obs and freezes keeps going until the delay has
run out, so the last minutes still reach your viewers. closing
freezes ends the broadcast immediately.
your stream key is stored on this device only, never uploaded,
and nothing about you is reported anywhere.
one stream at a time. windows only for now.
