A fully custom DIY smartwatch built from scratch on an ESP32-C3 microcontroller, featuring a 0.96" OLED display, real-time heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, Blynk IoT connectivity, a 5D joystick navigation, vibration motor alerts, laser pointer, and PixelPal — an animated emotional face bot. It syncs time via WiFi NTP, sends health data to your phone dashboard, and includes 12 functional screens with persistent flash storage — all built from discrete components costing under ₹900.
I know this might sound like a flex, but honestly every teenager likes having something unique — something different from everyone else. I also wanted to buy a smartwatch, so I kept searching for different watches. While searching, I discovered open-source watches, and I really liked their concept. The idea was amazing — you can customize them however you want, write your own code, either completely by yourself or with some help. It felt really creative and exciting. That’s when I wanted to get an open-source watch for myself. But the good open-source watches, like the LILYGO T-Watch, are quite expensive. So because of that, I decided to build my own open-source smartwatch from scratch.
