pins 1/2, 2/4 are actually the same and should be handled as such imho.

Sorry, centuries later...

I usually tend to think that physically separated pins must have different numbering, even if they are the same electrically, I believe this way the schematic+pcb are more consistent...
But I think I'll philosophize on this a little more these days, haha

well if they were the same it would make routing easier, because often you have a pulled button/etc along a whole rail/fill so it actually doesn't matter the orientation/placement that much (because one way or another you have at least one of the pins next to it), and kicad would handle that correctly if the pins are the same.

this prevents schematics looking like this:
