I have knocked up some preliminary tree-sitter support which is probably appropriate now that Emacs-29 has built in support. Not heavily tested yet but it seems to work nicely for me.
There is no doubt more that could be done. I haven't investigated the capabilities of tree-sitter enough to know whether it could replace more functionality that is current implemented in lisp.
