description: "Self-hostable orchestrator that turns labeled GitHub Issues into coding-agent runs in isolated worktrees, opens a tested PR, and merges only after an independent AI review and a CI-aware merge gate"
agentSummary: "Orbi is for maintainers who want coding agents to work from GitHub Issues. A scheduler tick claims an Issue labeled ai-ready, creates a branch and worktree from a frozen base SHA, and runs a coding agent that plans, implements, and tests. The runner opens the PR; a separate review session checks the exact base and head SHAs, and a merge gate checks CI and mergeability before merging."

classificationRationaleMd: "Orbi is agent-native because coding-agent runs are the work it schedules and gates: it claims Issues, gives each run its own branch, worktree, and run_id, starts a separate review session per round, and decides whether the result can merge."
inclusionRationaleMd: "Orbi owns the lifecycle across agent runs rather than merely invoking an agent: task assignment and isolation (labeled Issue to frozen-base worktree), validation evidence (test results and CI recorded on the Issue and PR), and a separate review and landing gate (independent review verdict for the current head plus a merge gate on base freshness, CI, and mergeability)."
bestForMd: "Maintainers of GitHub repositories who want coding agents to take scoped Issues through implementation, tests, review, and merge with the record kept in Issues and PRs."
notBestForMd: "Teams not using GitHub, teams that want interactive pair-programming in an editor, or orchestration of non-coding business agents."
limitationsMd: "Self-hosting needs Python 3.14+, GitHub CLI 2.94+, a coding agent (Pi) with a model provider, and a Linux systemd user session or macOS launchd session; macOS support is not yet verified on real hardware. Releases are only published when a maintainer requests one."
unknownsMd: "No independent benchmark of delivery reliability or review quality has been reviewed for this listing. Pricing details for the hosted Orbi Cloud are on the first-party pricing page and may change."
---

Orbi is a self-hostable orchestrator for coding agents that works from GitHub Issues. Label an Issue `ai-ready` and a scheduled runner claims it, creates a branch and worktree from a frozen base SHA, and runs a coding agent to plan, implement, and test. The runner opens the PR, a separate review session checks and fixes it, and a merge gate merges it only when the reviewed head, CI, and mergeability checks pass. The engine is open source under AGPL-3.0; a hosted Orbi Cloud is also offered.

## So agents can...

- Work on an assigned GitHub Issue in a dedicated worktree created from a frozen base SHA
- Leave plan, test, review, and merge evidence on the Issue and PR under one run_id
- Have their changes reviewed by a separate agent session and landed only through a merge gate that checks the reviewed head, latest base, CI, and mergeability
