Rolling Tables

Categories

Tables are grouped into five browsing categories, plus All and Favorites.

Category Contains
Characters NPCs by trade and station, and whole factions: guilds, cults, crews, warbands
Locations Dungeons, castles, settlements from hamlets to cities, wilderness, weather
Items Weapons, armour, potions, magic items, food and drink, coins, books, vehicles
Creatures Beasts, dragons, golems, undead, fiends, animals
Plots Campaign themes, adventure hooks, rumours, crimes, world-shaking events
All Every table in one alphabetical list
Favorites Tables you starred, plus your own custom tables

Several categories merge more than one underlying source. Characters is Factions and NPCs together, Locations is Dungeons, Settlements and Wilderness, and Items is Food, Magic, Objects and Vehicles.

On desktop the categories are the left sidebar. On phones they are the bottom tab row, with More holding All, Favorites, the map generators and Settings.

Rolling

Click any table in the left list. The result appears under Current Roll.

A roll is usually a whole scene rather than one line. A table names a set of sub-tables, all of which are rolled, and an individual result can itself contain an inline roll that is resolved before you see it. So one click on a tavern gives you the building, its keeper, its regulars and what is in the pot.

Some tables roll differently:

  • Pick tables roll once to choose a list, then once on the list they landed on. Random Plot Hook works this way: it picks an environment, then draws a hook from it, and names the list it used.
  • Count tables roll a quantity first, then that many results. The castle and city tables do this, which is why they are labelled with things like (with 8d6 rooms).

Tables whose name begins with a dash are shown indented. They are variants or components of the table above, and can be rolled on their own.

Current Roll and History

Current Roll shows the most recent result. History keeps everything rolled this session.

  • Expand and Collapse open or close every entry in the history.
  • The trash icon on an entry deletes that one entry.
  • Clear empties the whole history.
  • Copy copies the current roll; Copy all copies the entire history.

Copied output is plain text, ready to paste into notes or chat.

Filtering

The filter box above the table list narrows the current category as you type. It matches on table names. Clear it with the × button.

Filtering only searches the category you are in, so use All to search everything at once.
