What changed

Added a short subsection to section 4 of the re-homing guide: checking a user-side store adapter's prerequisites before the first ingest. Added a matching CHANGELOG entry under Unreleased.

Why

When the configured adapter is a database extension, the extension must be present for the server's major version before ingest runs. A load error naming the extension's shared library means the library is missing for that server version, not that the record is bad. The note states this rule plainly so operators fix the environment instead of the data.

Files

  • templates/protean-context/docs/rehoming.md
  • CHANGELOG.md

Verification

  • python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v: Ran 44 tests, OK (exit 0).
  • python3 gates/protean-context/check-leak-scan.py .: PASS, 60 files scanned, 0 hits (exit 0).
  • python3 gates/protean-context/check-path-portability.py .: PASS, 59 files scanned (exit 0).
  • python3 gates/protean-context/check-post-install.py .: PASS, 4 install targets present (exit 0).

Documentation-only change. No new dependency. No database, server, or index bundled. The empty-scaffold contract is unchanged.

Automated posting by agentic team with human oversight.
