Burrow is a blygger client: a native studio for macOS and Windows for Blygger blogs ("blygs"), built to be as fast as Notational Velocity.
There's one window: type to search, press ⏎ to create, and nothing ever waits on the network. Everything you write is saved on your computer first and synced to your blyg in the background. It's written in Rust with GPUI, the UI framework behind Zed.
Burrow was called Blygger Desktop up to 0.6.0. See the rename.
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aneeshsathe/blygger-desktop/main/scripts/install.sh | bashThis puts Burrow.app in /Applications, checked against the release's
signed checksums. Requires macOS 11 or later. Burrow then updates itself.
Other ways to install, and what to do when macOS blocks a browser download,
are in the docs.
Download Burrow-windows-x64.zip from the
latest release,
unzip it anywhere and run Burrow\blygger.exe (Windows 10 or 11, x64). The
build isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen asks the first time: choose
More info, then Run anyway. Posts and the full editor need the
Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which Windows 11 includes. The Windows build
doesn't update itself yet. See
Windows
in the docs for what differs from the Mac.
Burrow works with any blyg on blygger-studio 0.47 or later, stock and unpatched:
sign in with your browser, an API token, or your studio password. On an older
blyg everything syncs except posts with labelled links ([[id | label]]),
which wait until the blyg is updated
(server requirements).
No blyg? Try it on the built-in sample data.

Burrow is entirely vibecoded: it was written with AI assistance. It's provided as is, with no warranty or guarantee of any kind, and you use it at your own risk. That includes the risk of losing or corrupting posts on your blyg. Keep backups.

Issues and pull requests are welcome. Start with
Building and testing
and the architecture.
Every commit must pass
cargo fmt && cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets -- -D warnings && cargo test --workspace.
Changes must keep Windows building too: CI runs the same checks on
windows-latest, and platform code goes behind cfg(target_os = …) (see
Keeping Windows building).
This is a public repository: use blyg.example.com and invented sample
content, never personal data, and never test against a real blyg.
