The MLH ↔ Core link lives on the identity row (uid = Core user id), so the column stays nil instead of mirroring the OAuth nickname. New MyMLH signups get a generator-random initial username (picked properly in onboarding), and the banished-username guard no longer matches on MLH nicknames — both documented in the updated specs. The column itself is left in place; dropping it requires guarding the shared username-field machinery and can happen separately if ever worth it.
