Chase declines the payment outright when a cardholder name contains an accented letter, so the customer hits a hard decline on the hosted payment page instead of a field error. UAT confirmed hyphens and both apostrophe forms are accepted and only the accent differs, so the rule stays far broader than Magento's letters-only equivalent and still allows names like Jean-Luc and O'Brien.
The comments and test fixtures quoted real customer names taken from production orders. Swapped them for stand-ins with the same character classes so the documented evidence still reads clearly without carrying customer data into the repo.
