The old hero photo (night-market tents, lossy 1600 px WebP) broke up on HiDPI screens and was busy behind the headline.

• New hero: the sky above the crowd in Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival 2014 (Jirka Matousek, CC BY 2.0). The original's bottom third (hands, phones) is cropped off, so only lanterns remain.
• 4000 / 2400 / 1400 px WebP (137 / 57 / 27 KB) with srcset; the black is lifted to the hero's ink colour, so the picture meets the page without an edge.
• The picture now spans the hero and fades across its left half (headline side); the washes over it are lighter.
• Credit on the home page switches to this photo; the market photo stays on the sign-in panel with its own credit. docs/assets.md has the source, the changes and the exact commands.
• Tried and dropped: three.js scenes (tickets, lanterns) and Bangkok New Year fireworks (CC BY 3.0, PEAK99). Fireworks is a fallback if lanterns are not the one.

Checked at 1920 and 1440 (EN/TH) and 390 (TH), bun check, bun run build. Backends were off, so "Next up" is empty in the screenshots.
