This game was the second guided project that I completed on Boot.dev!
- uv
- Use uv to install Python 3.13, since pygame doesn't support python 3.14 yet.
- From within the repo, run
uv pin python 3.13,uv venvand[insert command at bottom of shell output from uv venv](mine wassource .venv/bin/activatebut yours may be different) - Finally,
uv run main.py
This setup has only been tested on Fedora Linux.

At the last page within the Boot.dev project, they state that (as is obvious if you play it in it's current state) they purposely left room for improvement so that you could learn more about OOP. These are the features that they give as examples:
- Add a scoring system
- Implement multiple lives and respawning
- Add an explosion effect for the asteroids
- Add acceleration to the player movement
- Make the objects wrap around the screen instead of disappearing
- Add a background image
- Create different weapon types
- Make the asteroids lumpy instead of perfectly round
- Make the ship have a triangular hit box instead of a circular one
- Add a shield power-up
- Add a speed power-up
- Add bombs that can be dropped
I plan on implementing some or all of these features as I have time between my day job and Boot.dev courses/projects.
