TheRealBecks/README.md

Hi, I'm Martin “Becks” Beckert 👋

I'm a Linux System Engineer, open-source tool builder, and co-founder of Strukturpiloten.

I build maintainable and transparent container infrastructure around Linux, Podman, Quadlet, Compose, and OCI. I care about reproducible systems, explicit compatibility, useful diagnostics, and documentation that makes infrastructure understandable instead of mysterious. 🐧📦

BoxFerry 🚢

I'm the creator and maintainer of BoxFerry, an open-source tool for converting container application definitions without silently hiding incompatible intent.

BoxFerry currently works with Compose, Quadlet, and Podman definitions. It is accompanied by specialized Rust libraries for understanding Compose, Quadlet, and Podman environments.

Strukturpiloten 🚀

Together with my wife, Frauke Beckert, I founded Strukturpiloten. We combine DevOps and IT project management to help organizations plan, deliver, and operate open, understandable, and sustainable technology and working environments.

My technical work focuses on Linux and container platforms, open-source tooling, reproducible OCI images, CI/CD, and the transition toward immutable infrastructure. Together, we connect that technical work with structured project delivery, clear communication, and practical coordination so you get organizational and technical DevOps.

Commercial support 🤝

Need help with containerization beyond a README or issue tracker?

Through Strukturpiloten, I provide commercial support and consulting for:

  • container architecture and modernization
  • Podman, Docker Compose, and Quadlet setups
  • OCI image design, build pipelines, and registries
  • migrations, compatibility analysis, and troubleshooting
  • reproducible deployments, CI/CD, documentation, and handover
  • IT project management
  • organizational and technical DevOps

If your team needs practical help designing, reviewing, or stabilizing a container setup, feel free to get in touch with Strukturpiloten.

Where I'm heading 🧭

My background is in Linux systems and network engineering. Today I'm increasingly working with immutable Linux platforms and container-native operating models. I currently use openSUSE MicroOS and am expanding my practical experience with Kubernetes, Talos Linux, and Flatcar Container Linux.

I enjoy building infrastructure and tools that teams can inspect, operate, and eventually own themselves.
