Three bugs from a review of src/kraken.rs, checked against the code and real hardware.
Kraken Z shows no temps or RPM.status() looked for an hwmon name starting with kraken, but the nzxt-kraken3 driver names the Kraken Z z53 (and the X series x53). Only 2023/2024 models matched. It now tries kraken, then z53, then x53.
Bucket overlap check compared a value with itself.end > start was true for every non-empty bucket below cur_off, so a larger upload never reused its slot and could trigger delete_all_buckets, wiping other stored screens. It's now end > cur_off.
A huge GIF was fully decoded into RAM before the size check. Frames are now decoded one at a time. The encoded-size check is unchanged.
Checked: cargo clippy -- -D warnings and cargo test (12 passed). Tested on a Kraken 2024 Elite system (hwmon kraken2024elite, still matched first).
GIFs are processed frame by frame, and decoding errors are reported as they occur.
Linux hardware status detection checks additional sensor locations and displays the existing driver-not-loaded message when no supported sensor is found.
Memory allocation now avoids overlapping existing allocations and allocations beyond device capacity.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
The change updates GIF frame encoding, checks memory bucket overlap and allocation capacity, and adds ordered hwmon path lookup for Linux status.
Changes: GIF frame encoding
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Encode GIF frames during iteration src/kraken.rs
show_gif encodes frames as the decoder yields them. Frame decoding errors propagate during iteration.
Memory bucket allocation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Check bucket overlap and memory capacity src/kraken.rs
memory_offset checks bucket ranges and prevents reuse when an allocation exceeds LCD_TOTAL_MEMORY. Tests cover a lower non-overlapping bucket and an over-capacity allocation.
Linux hwmon lookup
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Search Linux hwmon paths src/kraken.rs
Linux status checks the kraken, z53, and x53 hwmon paths in order. It returns the existing driver-not-loaded error if none is found.
SusieeTheLinuxUser/rig-hub#5: Adds tray and widget rows for cooler pump and fan speeds. This change expands the hwmon lookup used to obtain cooler status.

Review details
Systems and components
observed — src (service) was modified; 1 changed file maps to changed impact.
Before / after behavior
observed — Modified behavior in src/kraken.rs: show_gif no longer collects all decoded frames into a vector before encoding; it iterates the decoder’s frame stream and propagates each frame’s decoding error with ?.
observed — Modified behavior in src/kraken.rs: memory_offset now treats a bucket as overlapping when its start lies within the proposed allocation, when it starts before the current offset and ends after it, or when another bucket has the same start. Reuse of the current offset additionally requires that the allocation end not exceed LCD_TOTAL_MEMORY.
observed — Modified behavior in src/kraken.rs: Linux status now searches hwmon directories in order: kraken, then z53, then x53. If all are absent, it returns the existing kernel-driver-not-loaded error.
observed — Modified behavior in src/kraken.rs: offsets_match_liquidctl adds assertions that a lower-address bucket ending before the current bucket does not count as an overlap, and that an allocation starting at offset 24000 with 400 pages returns None.

at cur_off + pages does not exceed LCD_TOTAL_MEMORY; only return the current
