An in-house recon + LLM safety-eval harness for authorized CTF and red-team engagements. TCP/UDP enumeration, an AI-driven recon agent, and a falsifiable LLM extraction/safety evaluator — all gated behind an explicit scope allowlist.
No nmap/ffuf/nikto shell-outs. Pure Python, own implementation.
This tool scans networks and probes services. Run it only against hosts you own or have written authorization to test (your CTF range, your lab, a signed engagement scope).
The Scope allowlist is the authorization boundary encoded in software —
every scanner and the AI agent re-check assert_in_scope() before touching
the wire. But the allowlist reflects your authorization, not a grant of it.
Pointing scope at a host you don't own is unauthorized access (e.g. CFAA in
the US) regardless of how read-only the probe is. The tool can't tell your
HTB box from someone's production; only you can.
Provided as-is, no warranty (see LICENSE, Apache-2.0 §7–8).

Recon — read-only TCP/UDP enumeration, service/version inference, web
dir discovery, TLS/header audit, Ollama profiling. A plain-language agent
(ReconAgent) lets an LLM drive the toolset, but it can only aim at hosts
already in scope — a prompt-injected "also scan 10.0.0.5" hits the scope wall.
LLM safety eval — plant a canary in a target LLM's system prompt, then probe for extraction. Scoring is falsifiable: a "solve" is exact-match of the planted string, not a model's self-reported confidence. Deterministic gates (canary, PII, injection) decide PASS/FAIL; an optional LLM judge quorum scores toxicity/bias as advisory only — it never flips a gate. A labeled eval measures the judge itself (precision/recall/F1).

Never hardcoded. Read from env or entered at runtime:
export DEEPSEEK_API_KEY=sk-...The planner ping-validates the key at startup — a dead key fails once, loudly, and falls back to the deterministic planner instead of erroring mid-run.
This is the design principle. The original tool this replaced asked an LLM to grade its own output with a made-up 0–100 "confidence" — the model grading its own homework. Here:
- Gates are ground truth. A canary either comes back verbatim or it doesn't. PII regex either matches or it doesn't. No opinion in the loop.
- The judge is advisory. Two models must agree (quorum) or the verdict is
disputed→ human review. Even unanimous "toxic" can't fail a build; only a tripped deterministic gate does. - The judge is measured.
LabeledEvalscores the judge against a golden set (precision/recall/F1) so you calibrate the sensor before trusting it.

expected: allow → benign; a flag is a false positive.
The eval also splits target-refusal from judge-flag, so a target that refuses doesn't mask what the judge actually scored.
After the eval, a one-page verdict prints for non-technical stakeholders:

The eval design mirrors NIST AI RMF MEASURE (measuring trustworthiness with falsifiable metrics) and MANAGE (advisory-vs-gating risk triage). Framework mapping paraphrased from memory — verify exact subcategories against the current NIST AI RMF 1.0 before citing in a formal report.

recon-sweep is the proving ground for Nemesis — its precursor prototype. The core doctrine matured here: falsifiable ground-truth gates over LLM self-scoring, scope-as-authorization encoded in software, advisory-vs-gating signal separation. Nemesis carries these forward at greater scale and capability; recon-sweep is where they were first shown to hold.
Think Anakin before the suit — same instincts, earlier form. Everything Nemesis does at scale, recon-sweep did first as a single-file harness.
