Install RectZones, FancyZones-style window management for macOS, with one command.
brew install RectZones/tap/rectzonesNot yet published. The formula is still being prepared — this tap is set up but empty. Until it lands, install from source: see the main repository.
Use the fully-qualified name (RectZones/tap/rectzones) rather than
brew tap followed by brew install. Homebrew 6.0 added a
tap trust mechanism, and the fully-qualified form
grants trust for this one formula implicitly. The two-step form needs an explicit
brew trust RectZones/tap in between.
RectZones is distributed as source — you compile it, so the code you audit is the
code you run. That shape has one property worth keeping: macOS only applies the
com.apple.quarantine attribute to files a downloading application fetched, so an
app you build locally is never quarantined and Gatekeeper never blocks it. The app is
ad-hoc signed, which is sufficient precisely because nothing quarantines it.
A cask would break that. Casks install a prebuilt archive, which arrives quarantined, and an ad-hoc signed bundle then fails Gatekeeper with a "damaged and can't be opened" dialog. Shipping a binary would manufacture a problem that source distribution does not have.
A formula in this tap builds from source on your machine, so it keeps the property
and still gives a one-line install. Homebrew's official repositories would not take it
either way — homebrew-cask requires a prebuilt artifact that passes Gatekeeper, and
homebrew-core does not accept formulae that build .app bundles. Those are acceptance
policies for the official repos, not technical limits, so a self-hosted tap is the right
home.
Formulae live in Formula/. Nothing else belongs in this repository — the application
itself, its issue tracker and its documentation are in the
main repository.
MIT — same as RectZones.
