Single-Cell Transcriptomic and TCR Profiling Reveals Dynamic Immune Remodeling Across the Parkinson's Disease Spectrum

Mounting evidence of multiple modalities establishes that T lymphocytes, or T cells, play an important role in Parkinson’s disease (PD). While T cells are unequivocally involved in PD pathology, it remains unclear whether their activity is merely part of the response to disease or involved in the mechanism. Furthering our comprehension of the role of the peripheral immune system in PD, particularly in the early stages, can lead to mechanistic discovery as well as allow for the development of immune-based biomarkers and therapies.
Our goal with this work is to thoroughly characterize the transcriptional profile of peripheral immune cells and the TCR repertoire of T cells during disease progression to gain insight into their potential role in PD and contribute to biomarker discovery.
