Hi there,
it would be really great to be able to exploit the CUVISTA's powerfulness inside NLEs (and certainly will increase its userbase).

Since the project is open source GPL, the choice should clearly fall on the OpenFX format: https://openeffects.org/

I do believe that some kind of collaboration with @AdrianEddy's Gyroflow plugin for video editors - which is GPL too - could benefit both.

I knew about Gyroflow, which is great when a camera does record gyro data, but I was not aware of this OpenFX format, will think about it,

Well, the OFX "authorities" are undoubtedly @devernay and @MrKepzie from Natron here at GH.

I'm pretty sure they can point you to the most useful resources/tricks/hints if you are interested in porting cuvista.
