An open community building and maintaining a reliable, self-hostable platform for teams to communicate and organize their work — and a solid foundation for the projects built on it.

Platform Collective is the community organization that maintains the platform under open governance. The platform itself is an open-source fork of the Huly Platform. We preserve the upstream license and authorship, stay technically compatible where reasonable, and contribute improvements back where we can.

• Open governance — written rules for how decisions are made and how maintainers are chosen.
• Multiple maintainers from day one — no single set of keys, no single point of failure.
• Meritocracy with a clear path up — from a first contribution to maintainer, by explicit criteria.
• Transparency — significant decisions happen in the open, with a written record.
• Respect for upstream — license, authorship, and compatibility preserved.

Roles form an open ladder: User → Contributor → Member → Maintainer, with an active Council of maintainers as the decision-making body. Everyday work runs on lazy consensus; significant matters go to a recorded vote with a clear quorum and tie-breaking. See GOVERNANCE.md for the details.
